“Nobody sees anybody truly but all through the flaws of their own egos. That is the way we all see …each other in life. Vanity, fear, desire, competition— all such distortions within our own egos— condition our vision of those in relation to us. Add to those distortions to our own egos the corresponding distortions in the egos of others, and you see how cloudy the glass must become through which we look at each other. That’s how it is in all living relationships except when there is that rare case of two people who love intensely enough to burn through all those layers of opacity and see each other’s naked hearts.”
― Tennessee Williams (not playing hide and seek.)
Top 5 favorite meeting place in Seoul.. SeOul far.
Surprises are simply breaking away from routine, boredom. Be unexpected. The humor and joy that no one foresee. Oh yeah, even our true selfs could not see that coming. That’s why boredom is my enemy. Being caught in the moment is how f-u-n forms. Unique memories that lock itself in each exclusive’s day. The reason why the occasional self gigglings reoccurs. Just like yesterday’s post supper ice cream treat. Tummy was performing a celebratory dance enjoying n-o-w moments. Happy enough to simply, simplify life. Break it down. Like a break dance out.
Jazz Bar night out. Perfect mid week break! The couple beside me.. 2 people I’m so grateful to here in Seoul. Will remember them forever in my heart! My mind and soul too.. no worries. David and Chloe. Beautiful people inside out. They are preparing, saving for their world tour next year. Gotta meet them if they visit your country! They are Koreans who speak good english. Some Japanese and Spanish too! The guy on the right is the electric guitarist of the band. Will recall their band name soon…Kurt is his name. He is David and Chloe’s friend. He was the best player of the night. Usually, the vocalists tend to have the most spotlight. That night, his electric guitar arrangement was like honey on our lips. Even though it was a small scale-underground band performance, I was totally blown away by his magic on stage. Rock, Jazz genres were their forte.
You see, he was working in this prestigious multinational company years ago. But after much consideration, he left his well paid job and decided to be a guitarist. To me, it was a huge risk because he pursued this path only in his late twenties. To many others, I’m sure we share similar sentiments. After hearing his story, I knew I had to share it. Have you guys met musicians on/off stage before? Some people are shy and soft spoken in real life, but when they do what they love… they totally shine, sparkle, glow. He is one such person. I’m pretty sure if anyone bumps into him on the street, he won’t be any different with the guy next door. I really respect the fact that he pursued what he really likes. Against all odds, age barrier or whatever valid excuses/reasons…. At the end of the day, if work do not bring any satisfaction or fun; maybe it’s not too late to do a swop. Or start exploring.. find yourself. Not all who wander are lost. Take heart! ***
낙성대 station (Line 2), 1 station after Seoul National University Station. 10 minutes walk from Exit 4.
There’s always something good in every day. It’s how we choose to see things. How we want to be thankful for anything…
So earlier, I finally went for a once in a blue moon weekly run. The skies have been a big cry baby this summer. It was such a treat to be running out in the wild. (though I was feeling lazy and excusey moments before.) ***
After that, I had to check out the mini markets near by. Was trying to bring out the domesticated goddess in me by checking out fresh vegetables and ingredients-see if I could cook up any magic potion…am sure any passer by could tell I was just minding my mini own business.
So here comes this cute looking granny. She rattled on so quickly with a pack of Yakult looking drinks. The little scaredy cat in me wanted to smile, apologize and walk away…After all I couldn’t figure out what she was rapping. I mean saying. However, her body language caught my eyes. She was talking about eyes..pointing at the bottles..asking me some questions. All with a cute granny smile.
How could anyone reject a cute granny smile? After deciding that helping her was not an option…I finally understood her! She was long sighted! Probably caught it with old age. She could not read the expiry dates and wanted me to help her. I’m glad I could answer her in the language she understands. It was like…. ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED Babeh! *cues bell sound*
It was like an epiphany then. In modern life, we have too many options, too many choices. Over freedom perhaps? It’s good to reduce our choices when we have too many. I don’t believe that there’s only one option. But I do believe there’s always one best option. And usually, the best option is to think about thy self the last.
An unexpected super fun Friday~ Had the best time sharing our love for music.. And a good attempt of improving our linguistic skills through a movie? Which was a hilarious choice because it had too much action..And too little dialogue. Don’t everyone love house parties? ***
19 June: Did a full body search of Nakwon Music Mall.
Missed the sound of keyboard/piano and guitar too much that I think my heart was beaming to sleep yesterday… *** = Click on Date link above.
All the pastel colors attracted thy eyes but not ears and heart. Tried more than 15 of them in almost every shop possible. Most were patient and friendly in my Mount Everest liked quest. It was liked searching for a new home?
The next time I go.. Will bring a local friend over in exchange for a guitar back?
Heh the local is to ensure the best deal is achieved! I will bring the local friend back for sure. Won’t leave anyone behind for sure! ^.*
