Nirvana - Blandest

Author: Kurt Cobain

Wrote: 1988

Recording Sessions:

June-September 1988, Reciprocal Recording, Seattle, WA

Producer Jack Endino about the song: ""Blandest" didn’t come out very well and they opted to re-record it at a later time because the song was just not ready yet. They instructed me to record over this version which we did. I never even kept a cassette of it myself so the bootleg copies of it that exist must have come from band members’ rough mix cassettes, perhaps stolen ones. When they were planning Incesticide Krist called me up & wanted to know if I remembered "Blandest" and if there was a tape of it anywhere; I told him no, you guys told me to erase it! Imagine how spooked I was when I later heard it on a bootleg…tenth-generation cassette tape hiss, horrible fried 3-AM rough mix and all…"

Blandest ended up With The Lights Out, it was sourced from a band member’s cassette. Mastered by Bob Ludwig.

Lyrics:

You’re my favorite
Of my saviors
You’re my favorite
Oh no

You’re my favorite
Of my favors
You’re my razor
Oh no

Hey!
And the situation wasn’t quite
As intense as I thought
I need you around
To remind me what not to become
And the situation wasn’t quite
As intense as I thought
I need you around
To remind me when not to become
Come, come, come

This is probably never going to reach the intended person, but if they happen to end up reading it, I want to say thank you to the girl that held my hand in Seattle at twenty one pilots when I was crying during Car Radio. Having moments at concerts like that is so powerful, to connect somehow with strangers, to be a family, and support each other. It made me feel better, thank you so much.
