After 2 years and a month of enjoying my Shure SE110s, they have started to fail.

The wiring on the left earphone is damaged/oxidized and depending on the position the sound breaks and the intensity changes. (typical…)

Before it started having problems I was very satisfied with them, with the right tips and proper fitting they give you a private listening room isolated from most of the exterior noise. I used them daily in my train commute by listening to podcasts, audiobooks and music.

I am very satisfied with them!

The newly announced SE215s look like a nice replacement/step-up and it looks like they would come at little more than I paid for the SE110s.

Plus the “new” design (was already available in the higher-end models) fixes the problems I am experiencing:

  1. the cabling can be fully replaced (hopefully cheap)
  2. the point where and the way it connects to the earpieces is much more robust
