my pups do this too!

In digging swales, I have had several points of contact with the clay subsoil layer.

I’ve started doing a little bit of clay processing every day: I followed lessons about sediment from the third grade, and this tutorial.

My goal is to refine the raw materials required to build a cob oven, completely from scratch. Cob is a sustainable building material in which I have been interested for a long time, and since I have done so much wattle, I thought it was time to try daub.

Each day, I add a ball of pure clay to hang up and dry in the trees. Daily small batches are easier to manage with limited space. I’ll have enough for my project after about two weeks.
