This week in my random googling, I came across this pictures (not very hard to find, actually). I think they are both very beautiful.

The first one are Lactobacillus, and what looks like an epithelial cell. The second one are Micrococcus, beautifuly arranged in tetrads. Thin long bacillus and cute little coccus. Both Gram positive.

38:The reason I joined Tumblr
Some friends of mine were on it and I figured I’d give it a shot.

50:Do I have someone of the opposite sex I can tell everything to?
No. I have a couple of female friends that I can tell many things to, and I can tell my sister most things, but not quite everything.

63:Do I believe in ghosts? How about aliens?
In the Hollywood sense, no. In the abstract sense… well, I don’t reflexively reject their existence.

78:How can you win my heart?
I could go on about this for hours… but I’ll simplify it as well as I can.
Self-Awareness: know enough of who you are to be perpetually exploring what and why; then invite me to explore with you.
Shamelessness: be all about what you love and flaunt it; be the go-to person amongst all of your friends for your passion and be unapologetic about your love for it.
Curiosity (corollary to self-awareness): understand enough about your comfort zone to not let baseless (especially socially-grounded) stigmas keep you from exploring something that catches your mind.
Confidence (corollary to shamelessness): you are skilled, intelligent, interesting, and creative and you know it, even if sometimes you feel the opposite. A failure is merely a reference point to measure your limits, making them that much easier to overcome.
Communication: there’s an element of luck involved in our respective modes of communication; our verbal rhythms may be in spontaneous harmony or harsh dissonance regardless of intention. We may immediately begin communicating enthusiastically or take weeks or even months to years carefully probing around each other until we find or create an appropriate rhythm and language for deeper communication. This rhythm, if it’s possible to reach (it may not be), is guaranteed to never be found without at least some attempt, and is necessary to adequately express any of the aforementioned qualities.

Oh hey, this question inspired a poem. How about that.

By XKCD, of course:

This comic shows estimated average frequency. I wanted to include the pitch drop experiment, but it turns out the gif format has some issues with decade-long loops.
