So I’ve gone into drawing Rondun and Marrinus as humans again and I’m actually liking how they’re looking this time. Apart from the fact I was just getting into drawing more people, I wasn’t sure what I was doing when I tried it before. Even if it’s just a pair of headshots in my sketchpad it looks more “them” this go around.
I don’t know why I feel the need to draw a lot of my oc’s as people but I do~ sorry if that’s cheating.
I’m also thinking of having Rondun be partially blind in one of his main set of eyes. Shinlai with six eyes would have to be blind in at least 1/3 eyes, just due to genetic difficulties. But what I’m thinking of, involving his main pair, would have been due to an injury he received in his childhood.
Having a heavy rock shattered over his face would have likely scarred the tissue of at least one of his eyes one way or another. If not, however, the infection that caused the heavy/gnarled scarring on his snout afterwards may have done his eye in. That’s kind of what happens when he’s stuck using poor man’s medical treatment, ie: none at all.
If he’s a dark Shinlai he may or may not need complete eyesight to function. I’ve always seen them using their elemental ability and other senses to help them see in the dark and coordinate (I think working with Saph and Twi helped with that). A 50% bum eye might not be too much of a loss if he’s had it since he was a kid, it didn’t get in the way back then and at 127 I don’t see it hampering him.
Anyway this is just an excuse to give him reading glasses ;v;
I WANNA SEE HUMAN RONDUN WITH A CROOKED NOSE AND OLDSCHOOL READING GLASSES STUCK OVER HIS LUMPY FACE OK?
