Peninsula Hot Springs, Mornington Peninsula- Victoria

Ever since I watched my (now) good friend Sam Frost and her Bachie Blake snuggle up in a steaming, romantic hot spring bath on top of a hill at sunrise on an episode of ‘The Bachelor’ I dreamt about the day where I’d get to do the same with my very own dreamboat.

Cut to six or so months later and I’m sitting in the same exact bath, however rather than snuggled up to a hot piece of ass, I’m surrounded by other couples and a group of friends on uni holidays.

BUT THAT’S NOT THE POINT!

Let’s go back to the beginning…

Peninsula Hot Springs is the first natural hot springs and day spa centre in Victoria and at only 90 minutes from Melbourne CBD it makes the perfect romantic day-trip for the weekend.

What makes the hot springs ‘hot’ is the natural thermal mineral waters that flow into the various pools and private baths, making this “award-winning coastal oasis” the perfect “idyllic setting for relaxation and rejuvenation”.

As I quickly learnt, there are two bathing facilities provided that have a very different vibe about them depending on what you’re there for/who you came with.

BATH HOUSE:

This section of the hot springs is for those of you who rock up with 4 kids or 4 friends. There’s over 20 different ‘globally inspired experiences’ which basically means the guys who opened the springs travelled all around the world visiting different hot springs and brought their favourite ideas and concepts back with them.

The pools are designed to take advantage of the natural beauty and habitat that surrounds them- there is stacks of beautiful flora and fauna (and cute little info plaques on the different species and breeds) as you walk from pool to pool.

It’s worth noting that this area is usually VERY busy. Granted, I was the idiot that decided to pay a visit on the last day of school holidays but I was told that it’s ALWAYS pretty busy and bookings are essential.

That being said, the reflexology walk, hydrotherapy hydro jets, foot and hand baths, sauna, steam bath, cold plunges kept me and my fluffy white robe pretty busy for a few good hours.

There’s also a cafe in the bath house section where you can get sandwiches, pizzas’s etc- I can personally recommend the ham and cheese croissants.

SPA DREAMING CENTRE:

This area of the facility is for all those lovebirds out there. Well, lovebirds or adults that don’t want to have to deal with laughing children splashing hot spring water in their face.

As soon as you walk through the doors of the ‘Spa Dreaming Centre’ you can immediately feel the difference in atmosphere.

There is a more formal restaurant which sits out on a deck, making you feel like you’re eating delicious food and drinking delicious juices in a treehouse.

Reserved for guests 16 years and over,  the emphasis is on tranquil spaces, private pools and an array of pampering spa treatments to “revitalise body, mind and spirit.”

You’ve got a few pools in an open area, similar to the bath house but theres also the option of booking private indoor (2 people max) and outdoor baths (5 people max).

The private indoor pool (more like a bath) is especially romantic looking and I once again kicked myself for rocking up solo. (Not that I have a loved-one to bring anyway but you get my drift!)

Part 2 of the ‘Spa Dreaming Centre’ is the day spa. My robe and I made ourselves comfortable in the ‘Relaxation Room’ which is seriously so relaxing I fell asleep on one of the hanging egg-chairs and had to be woken up by my beauty therapist when it was time for my massage.

As expected, my 60 minute full-body relaxation massage was heaven. My therapist worked me head to toe, rubbing all kinds of amazing smelling essential oils into my skin before gently shaking me awake.

OKAY FINE. I’D FALLEN ASLEEP AGAIN SO WHAT?

All up, an amazingly relaxing and luxurious experience that I cannot recommend highly enough.

If I was loved up (and I’m not- in case you didn’t grab that tiny, non-important fact) I would hit up the ‘Bath House’ for a romantic trip to their famous ‘Hill Top’ pool (the very one Sam and the Bachie visited) before grabbing some food at the ‘Spa Dreaming Centre’ restaurant, checking out their private pools and getting a couples massage.

Did somebody say “Valentines Day”?

my future partner is probably texting their bae right now about how they’re gonna be together forever. sike, see you in ten years bitch
