There’s no doubt in my mind that there has been a huge hip hop revival that crosses all genre lines. Consider all the electronic music now that’s hugely influenced by hip hop. Consider all the trap music. Consider all the remixes and originals of songs that are traditionally house, pop, even rock or alt, that now feature guest rappers. Kiesza demonstrates this growing trend with her latest taste off her debut album Sound Of A Woman. Bad Thing is her darkest, moodiest song yet, miles and miles away from the grooving 90’s house of Hideaway, and it features Joey Bada$$. Sound Of A Woman drops October 21 on Island. I can’t wait. By the way, Kiesza is incredible live, as expected. Go see her, if you get the chance to.
