When adding Let Me Read That to the book blog list earlier today, I noticed that Kathi is completing Tumblr’s 30 Day Book Challenge.  I feel like QFF needs a little more personalized content from myself, so from today out there’ll be a post related to it.  All posts will be tagged #30daybookchallenge.  The questions are:

I’ll link answer posts back on this master post; I’ll be answering question #1 later on today. :)

Just this morning I crossed over the 5,000 followers mark.  First off, THANK YOU!  I appreciate every single one of you sharing, submitting to, and enjoying Quotes from Fiction.  I’ve been running this blog for a little over seven months now, and the response is completely astounding to me.  Before I jump into the contest details, I also want to say that coming in June we’ll have a more Tumblr traditional style of giveaway, but after some consideration I decided I wanted this first one to be a little more creative.

There will be three prizes awarded of an Amazon giftcard (purchased through the Amazon site in your country of origin unless you specify otherwise).  First Prize, for the submission with the most likes/reblogs, will win a $50 Giftcard.  The submissions with the second and third most likes/reblogs will each win a $25 GiftcardAmounts are in Canadian currency.  After winners are determined, I will request your email and we’ll go from there.

To enter, choose your favourite quote from a work of fiction and display it in a creative way.  This could be an image like the ones I post here on QFF, a painting, macaroni art, collage, a rap… ANYTHING that showcases the quote, VERBATIM, and that YOU have made.  Post your submission on YOUR Tumblr tagged #quotecontest2013 and #quotesfromfiction and submit the link to me.  Encourage your followers to share and reblog.  I will also reblog all submissions on quotesfromfiction.com.  Those with the most likes/reblogs between now until the 22nd of May, win!  Be creative and have fun!

Favourite Quote Contest (April 22nd to May 22nd 2013)

  1. One submission per Tumblr account.
  2. You must have a Tumblr account, and you have to be following Quotes from Fiction in order to enter.
  3. The quote you choose must be from a work of fiction.  This can be a novel, novella, short story, play, epic poem (think Prufrock) , etc.  If you are unsure, please ask.  I will be tagging all posts related to the contest on the blog as #quotecontest2013Your submission post must include the title of the work, and the author.
  4. Your submission post must also include your name and the country where you live, and the image featuring the quote must include a watermark of some sort with your tumblr username (not distorting the actual image).  If it’s a video, include it somewhere there whether spoken or shown.  I will be google image searching each submission to verify that it was made by you.
  5. No porn, nudity, etc.

And that’s it!  I’m very excited to see submissions and get going.  Thank you again for your follows and support of QFF.  If you have any questions or need clarification re: the contest, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Favourite Quote Contest 2013

The Favourite Quote Contest is over!  Thank you to all who participated, I really appreciate the time and effort you put into your designs.

  • First Place at 110 likes/reblogs is Thalia with her quote from The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. She will receive a $50 gift card.
  • Second Place at 87 likes/reblogs is Kelsey with her quote from To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. She will receive a $25 gift card.
  • Third Place at 63 likes/reblogs is Anna with her quote from The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. She will also receive a $25 gift card.

Third place was VERY tight so I did have to be the tie breaker; I went with the book I had read of the two and therefore the quote I best understood in context.  Caitlyn, you did a beautiful job though, as did everyone else who submitted!  Thank you again for your participation.

All winners have been contacted, and the gift cards will be available mid-to-late next week.

I am just about at the 6,000 mark for followers, which is BANANAS.  Thank you!  You guys are absolutely amazing.  Just to let you know I will still be doing a more Tumblr traditional giveaway in the near future; originally it was going to be July, but I am moving, so it might be closer to the mid-August mark.  Thanks again, and Happy Thursday. :)

- Alison

Hello!  Just a note to let you know that I had internet problems for the majority of the day today, so unfortunately I didn’t have an opportunity to queue up the next week’s worth of posts.  I might not get a chance to do it tomorrow night, so things should be back to our regularly scheduled program Wednesday (barring unforeseen circumstances given the time of year; otherwise it’ll be Thursday at the latest).  Thanks for your patience!

1,000+ Followers!

You all are amazing.  I am so thankful and humbled by your response to this blog.  I’ve watched my follower count grow exponentially in the last week especially, and my mind is blown.  I’m sitting here right now, smiling like an idiot, so outrageously thrilled because I love compiling and making these quotes, including your submissions, and sharing my love of books/reading with all of you.  Thank you, again, for your shares, follows, messages, submissions and comments.  I’m presently working on tag organization (a little a day), and seeking out other book and reading blogs on tumblr to compile a one-stop resource for you (and if I’m missing your favourites, please let me know!).  Once I’ve got these projects taken care of, I’ve other ideas for branching QFF out, so keep your eyes peeled!  :)

Ack!  So sorry for the delay in posting, everyone!  ‘Unforeseen circumstances’ popped up in the form of a rather unfortunate chest infection that I’m just getting over.  The queue is all lined up now, though.  Apologies again, and thank you for your patience!  (Also, hope you all like the new look of the quotes.  I played around a bit for something a little different.  :))
