Lapici ka kuaderno - Trio Azúl de Mundo
Probably one of the most beautiful pirekuas (P’urhépecha folk songs) I’ve heard.
It tells the story of a mother lamenting the fact that her daughter never finished primary school, leaving her pencil and notebook abandoned.
Full disclosure: I don’t know if Azúl is P’urhépecha/from Michoacán or whether her pronunciation of the words are correct. All I know is I love her voice.
If anyone knows, please call me out. I don’t want to continue the promotion of Ladino voices/opinions over indigenous ones.
