pride of the american flag

“Lovewins! American icon Barbie celebrates marriage quality with the rest of us. She’s wearing an original painting of rainbow stripes draped into a couture gown. Her accessories include a miniature American pride flag and marriage certificate. She’s recycled from a vintage 1990s Barbie I bought off ebay for $2.” By Ryan Jude Novelline.

The number of “I support gay marriage, but….” posts I’ve seen on my facebook feeds have been astounding.

I don’t care if you feel like god should be respected by all, even if we aren’t fucking Christians.

I don’t care if you feel like that is disrespectful to the army because they changed the american flag to the gay pride flag.

I don’t care if you thing the only colors the fucking white house should be lit up as are red, white and blue.

Your religion and your patriotism can fuck off for a while. They’re celebrating. Chill.

The Confederate Battle Flag was placed on the South Carolina State House in 1961, during the height of the Civil Rights movement.

Not in 1861 when the flag was first created, but in 1961…to send a crystal clear message to Black people and the nation, to show precisely where South Carolina stood regarding Civil Rights and Voting Rights for Black people. Even after the recent massacre at the historic Mother Emanuel church, South Carolina refused to lower the flag to half-mast

Recall that leading up to the Civil War - a war the South fought to keep Black people as slaves and property - South Carolina was the first state to secede from America. The connection between the Confederate flag and white supremacy is unmistakable.

The Confederate Flag is about “Southern pride” like the Swastika is about the German economy.

💕We’re elated!!! 💕

We know there’s a lot more fighting ahead, but this was a huge step forward.

Today it is really really important to remember all the members of the community who fought for this, and couldn’t be here to see the end result. Believers in this cause who fought in silence for years, and the people who are out everyday showing that we won’t back down! Thank you to all of those people, and hopefully the world looks a little brighter from where you are.

It’s also important that, no matter who/where you are or what your preferences are, you are valid. Don’t forget that. You see today what years and years of fighting can do, and that’s just in America. Now go; it’s your turn in the ring. Stand up. Make yourself known. Vote. Stand tall and believe in your cause. Fight for yourself, in anything you do, because YOU MATTER!

You. Are. Valid.

There’s a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow, and we’re cashing it in! 🌈🌟

Congratulations, America, on the path forward to victory! 🇺🇸❤️✊

Tomorrow is London Pride and the American Flag shall be waved along with the flags of the UK shall be at the font and also Ireland Mozambique , in recognition of their recent advances in LGBT+ equality.

Welcome to the family

Maybe my view of history is screwed up but I very much disagree with this. The Civil War wasnt so much about slavery as much as it was about the ultimate act of political protest allowed by our constitution and also our history. a very big government was flexing its muscles and had put in place an agenda that by and large would have (and eventually did) changed the entire Environment in the South. If the west were told that they could only grow fruit, and the could not under any circumstances grow grain for anyreason whatsoever just because the Government said so, a Civil War would Also have happened, and no corn would be butthurt over the matter. Our country was founded on the basis that if a larger government is opposing its will and cannot be reasonable in coming together with some sort of compromise that you band together with a large enough group, you declare independence, and imminently War. As a black man True equality will not be recognized in my eyes stop seeing the Confederate flag as a symbol of Racism and people start recognizing it as an artical of historical significance and regional pride. It in my eyes represents one of the pillars that our country in all its glory was founded upon. ALSO. Ive experienced my fair share of useless bigotry at the hands of those that fly the flag with 50 stars and 13 bars above their home. Likewise ive received my fair share of respect from those that ride with a confederate flag in the back of their big Jacked-up truck wherever they go. So correct me if Im wrong I dont understand what a flag has to do with a person being a racist.

We are almost upon the dreadful day that marks the wreck of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald, and the unfortunate loss of its 29 crew members. Christened and launched in June of 1958, her maiden voyage was on September 24th of the same year. Also known as The Mighty Fitz and the Pride of the American Flag, she served for 17 years. With a length of 729 feet and a beam (width) of 75 feet, she is the largest ship to sink in the Great Lakes. Her registry number was US 277437, and she was tragically taken out of service on November 10th, 1975.

I cannot imagine what it must have been like to be on board that ship on that fateful day.

To celebrate LGBT Pride, Southern Democrats has changed its avatar to this image.  It is a great bumper sticker available here: http://www.zazzle.com/scratched_vintage_gay_pride_american_rainbow_flag_sticker-217182977847181287
