Local filmmaker, podcaster and host Homer Martinez directed two projects, including the emotional docu-short “Houston’s Proud Voice” and “Molly Where You At,” a campy music video by singer Morena Roas that finds her traipsing through Montrose in search of the titular character, who may or may not be real. The clip was shot using one camera over two days throughout several well-known gay clubs, including FBar, Bayou, Crocker and TC’s.

Martinez, who is straight, has been a longtime supporter of the gay community. He co-hosted this year’s Pride Superstar singing competition and has emceed the Pride Festival for two years.

"QFest, as well as other organizations that focus on the impact of the LGBTQ community around the world, do a great job of portray the LGBTQ community in many different lights," Martinez says. "It shows you their ups and downs, happiness and sadness, successes and struggles."

"Houston’s Proud Voice" features alternately sweet and sad stories from locals, gay and straight, discussing what Pride means to them and why it’s an important concept. Among them are Pride Superstar 2013 winner Juliana Wathen, Roas, jazz singer Tianna Hall and KRBE (104.1 FM) personality Benjamin Phoenix.

Martinez says he was inspired to create “Houston’s Proud Voice” by the 2013 ruling that deemed the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional and by his gay brother (“who I love and am very proud of”). He’s currently working on a “brand new era” of his long-running Podimouth podcast, which focuses on local music, and a documentary about gay and straight dating apps.

"Pride, to me, is all about shouting to the world how much you love being yourself," Martinez says. "Whether you’re straight, gay, male, female, white, black, brown, it doesn’t matter. Love yourself and learn to love others for who they are. It really is that simple."

Atlantic Records has announced the debut release from acclaimed singer/songwriter Melanie Martinez. “THE DOLLHOUSE EP” arrives on May 20th and is highlighted by the stunning new single, “Dollhouse,” which is available now on the iTunes Store(itunes.apple.com/us/album/dollhouse-single/id813791270). In addition, the track’s compelling companion video is fast approaching 1 million individual views at Martinez’s official YouTube channel,www.youtube.com/Melmartinezx3.  Co-written by Martinez with GRAMMY® Award-nominated tunesmiths Kinetics & One Love (B.o.B, Neon Hitch), the dark pop dream of “Dollhouse” has already earned an array of ecstatic critical notices.

Having spent much of 2013 selling out clubs across the country, Martinez will celebrate “THE DOLLHOUSE EP” with her biggest national tour to date, kicking off June 4th at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s World Café and continuing through the end of June (see attached itinerary). Additional live dates will be announced soon –please see www.facebook.com/melaniemartinezmusicfor updates.

Martinez – who is also currently hard at work finishing her eagerly awaited debut album alongside such collaborators as Robopop (Jessie J, Lana Del Rey) and the aforementioned Kinetics & One Love – has been hailed as a provocative singer, songwriter, and visual presence. The song “positions Martinez as an American version of Lorde,” writes Newsday. “(Martinez) sings about a picture-perfect family that is much more troubled under the surface,” declared Us Weekly, noting that Martinez – a former contestant on NBC’s smash reality singing competition series, The Voice – “might be the show’s first real breakout star.” The Long Island, New York-native captured the country’s imagination with her arresting performances on the highly rated Fall 2012 season of NBC’s The Voice, driving her unique renditions of “Too Close” and “Seven Nation Army” to top 5 sales on the iTunes Store. In addition, Martinez’ rendition of “Toxic” lit YouTube on fire, earning more than 6 million individual page views.

Dallas, TX rockers MEMPHIS MAY FIRE will release their long awaited new LP, Unconditional, on March 25th via Rise Records. The band is premiering a new song titled “No Ordinary Love” at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1HIegAANIk.

Pre-orders for Unconditional launched today at: http://MemphisMayFire.merchnow.com.

MEMPHIS MAY FIRE has spent the past 3 years turning heads and they are now one of the big dogs in the metal core world. To say the band has been moving at full throttle would be putting it lightly. After making a name for themselves as the standout band on the 2012 Vans Warped Tour, they were asked back to headline the 2013 Main stage. Meanwhile, their previous album, Challenger, debuted at #16 on Billboard. After that, they toured with Sleeping With Sirens on a full U.S. major market run - selling out 2,000 cap rooms across the country. The band has also toured with the likes of Of Mice & Men, Asking Alexanderia and The Devil Wears Prada.

For the LP, the group returned to Chango Studios & Compass Audio with producers Cameron Mizell (Sleeping With Sirens, Woe Is Me, The Word Alive) & Kellen McGregor (MMF Guitarist / Songwriter), who previously worked to create Challenger, and the result showcases MEMPHIS MAY FIRE at their best.

Mullins says, “We are so proud of Unconditional. I couldn’t have been more honest in these songs & I can’t wait to see the impact they have. This record is exactly what it’s supposed to be.”

Unconditional is about struggles, faith, paving out your own future, and coming to terms with the responsibilities life throws your way. The band has written a record that is sure to connect with their fan base in a big way, while attracting a large number of new listeners in the same fashion as their previous release
MEMPHIS MAY FIRE will embark on a full U.S. headline tour on February 21, with support from The Word Alive, A Skylit Drive, Hands Like Houses and Beartooth. The band will also be performing at Self Help Fest, Rock On The Range and Carolina Rock Rebellion.

Ghost Town Re-Release Debut Album.

Fueled By Ramen group Ghost Town has announced the re-release of their debut LP, “PARTY IN THE GRAVEYARD.” The breakout album, which was originally self-released by the Los Angeles based outfit last winter, now features brand new artwork, completely remastered recordings and multiple new tracks including ‘Trick or Treat,’ ’In Flames,’ ‘Universe’ and ‘Game Freak (Acoustic).’ “PARTY IN THE GRAVEYARD” is available now at www.officialghosttown.com as well as on iTunes (SEE TRACK LISTING ATTACHED).

Ghost Town, who earlier this fall completed their first headline tour of the North America, playing 27 shows across the continent, just recently made their United Kingdom debut on Vans Warped Tour UK. Ghost Town is currently overseas traversing the UK on the “Kevin Says Tour” and will make their way back to the states for a special holiday performance on December 20th at Anaheim, CA’s Chain Reaction. Tickets for that date are on sale now. For complete details and ticket information, please visit www.officialghosttown.com.

Ghost Town - that is, Kevin Ghost (vocals), Evan Pearce (electronics), Alix Monster (guitars) and MannYtheDrummeR (drums) - has earned widespread praise for their fervent live shows and distinctive blend of digitalized-pop-punk. Shortly after the initial release of “PARTY IN THE GRAVEYARD” last January, Ghost Town exploded across the web and found themselves atop the charts on countless social music sites including PureVolume where they have remained in the Top 10 since the album’s release. Furthermore, the band has developed a strong connection with their rapidly expanding fan base through constant interaction on their social media sites. Ghost Town, which has amassed over 8 million views on their official YouTube page, has used the platform to release weekly updates and new tracks, each accompanied by their own unique artwork, all of which is created by honorary 5th member artist Alister Dippner aka Imamachinist.

MA’s My Fictions will release their debut full length, “Stranger Songs” on July 1st via Topshelf.

The band self recorded and mixed the record and Will Killingsworth (Orchid) at Dead Air Studios mastered it.

Clocking in at 28 minutes long, “Stranger Songs” is a display of manic intensity. The ten tracks each plunge deep down into a darkness that was only teased at on the band’s 2012 EP, “Always Trapped”. The songs are certainly “stranger” than anything the band has released before: sometimes there are mere seconds between the chaotic blast beats and the slow, crushing riffs that the album attacks with. However, the true “stranger” in “Stranger Songs” is the one that lyricist Bryan Carifio seems fixated on becoming, as identity is a constant battle screamed over songs wavering between catharsis and collapse.

On “Stranger Songs”, My Fictions have perfected their craft. The signature atmospheric dread that the band offers on this release is a mix of anger and sadness that is impossible to avoid. The new album is a collection of songs written at an emotional low, and My Fictions are determined to drag the listener down with them.

"Stranger Songs" is the follow up to the band’s acclaimed 2013 split with label mates The Saddest Landscape, which included a 13+ minute long track that was written collectively by both bands.

The pop trio, known as Before You Exit, have announced their upcoming The Dangerous Tour starting in Raleigh, NC on March 18th with special guests to be announced. VIP Packages will go on sale tonight and tickets will be open to the general public this Saturday, February 8th. The band released their new EP, I Like That, last February with their latest single, the title track, recently peaking at #4 on Radio Disney Top 30 Countdown. When you combine the creative intuition of musical brothers with the wisdom and input of chart-topping songwriters, you get an album of finely crafted pop bursting with spirited authenticity. Though the three brothers in Before You Exit were just in their teens, they had the talent, sophistication, and confidence to find their distinct pop-rock aesthetic through writing with such songwriting heavyweights.

Conjuring up the optimism in the band’s name-inspired by the sentiment “make a difference before you exit”- the band works daily to make their way to the top but they never fail to stop and appreciate what has got them thus far.”There’s no way we’d be anywhere without our incredible fans. They are behind us every step of the way and are a huge piece of this band,” states youngest brother, Toby. In light of the many short lived and fly by night artists, this young, singer/songwriting, brother driven band, is one to be around for a while.
