So I had a thought today related to my favorite thing of the 90’s and my childhood, the Bedazzler.
This thing was awesome. It took normal clothes and transformed them into glitzed up, studded messes in minutes.
So what brought on this thought? Harry Potter wands, of all things. The Harry Potter wands in canon are lovely and simple. They are all wood-carved, and they all have unique charm to them. (
However, when it comes to fan made wands for OCs, they tend to look
ridikulus ridiculous. They’ve keychains hanging off of them, tassles, odd shapes, gems, and metal accents. Why? This makes no sense to me.
How is that wood doing that?
What’s with the keychain and bulky handle???
Holy fuck I must be getting trolled here.
But then I realized this phenomenon isn’t exclusive to wands. Keyblades of OCs do the same thing. They add and add and add extra bits and pieces until the design is a gaudy mess.
How is this held?
What is even going on here???
So then I realized this is pretty much true for all weapons.
So what am I looking at here? What is this desire to put gems and tassles and chains and stickers all over an OC’s weapon/wand?
