Recommendation Friday :D
Today I’d like to recommend the Under the Never Sky series by Veronica Rossi. This is one of my favorite dystopian series out there.
Just a fantastic trilogy. Amazing world building and memorable characters.. Highly recommend it!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter Weekend

This is one of the most emotional scenes in the whole movie, and for so many different reasons.

Perry’s not just struggling with trusting Phineas to open the portal in time. He’s struggling with the fact that everyone he has ever cared about could die if he doesn’t hold on. Because that’s what Perry does. He protects everyone, he fights until he wins. He’s tried so hard to protect the boys through everything, and now he’s stuck. The only way he can protect them at this point is by holding on, and he can’t hold on forever. He’s always been able to win every single battle, and now that there’s no way out, now that everyone he loves could die and he can’t do anything about it, he has no idea what to do.

He can’t save everyone. He’s out of options, and he’s failed to protect everyone he loves. But Phineas can give them a chance. If he does what Phineas asks, Phineas might be able to save everyone. Perry has always done everything himself, without any help. But now he’s in an unfamiliar situation: He needs help, and he realizes Phineas is the one he can count on to take over.

Perry isn’t just letting go of the side of the cage. He’s letting go of his struggle to save everyone. It’s Phineas’s turn to be a hero.

“Friends and Family … my friend Jenn’s daughter, Kathryn was a victim of dating violence on February 11, 2015. She was just 17 years old. She was an amazingyoung woman with a bright future ahead of her. She passionately loved Katy Perry. Please share this post with ‪#‎KatyPerry‬. We are trying to get this to go viral so that we can catch Katy’s attention. Thank you!

Dear Katy Perry,

We are the "Friends of Kathryn Rose Mauke”. Kathryn was brutally murdered on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 by her ex-boyfriend in Springfield, MA.

Kathryn was just 17 years old when she died. She was a senior at Sabis International Charter School and was so excited about graduating in June. Kate had a full life ahead of her full of dreams and aspirations. This was cut short on that cold day as a result of an act of unspeakable violence.

Kate was so full of life! Smart, energetic, passionate, caring, determined, kind, resourceful, compassionate, honest, fearless, loyal, persuasive and optimistic are just some of the traits that define who Kathryn was. But even that does not paint the true picture of the beautiful young woman that was taken on that day.

Kathryn was born on 5/11/1997 to Daniel and Jennifer Mauke. She quickly earned the nickname “spitfire” and embodied the notion of being fearless. Kathryn had a passion for politics and consistently placed in the top 4 of AIC’s Model Congress (American International College). Kathryn became the first freshman at Sabis to be awarded an honorable mention; ultimately earning the 1st place delegate status this past January. She was awarded a full scholarship to AIC. Kathryn mentored fellow Model Congress students, was the co-founder of the Gay-Straight Alliance Club at Sabis, ran on the Sabis Varsity Cross Country Track and Field team, and was a Springfield Shark Swimmer.

So now that we have told you a little bit about who Kathryn was we’d like you to know about what Kathryn loved. Kate passionately loved her family, friends and Katy Perry. She was a die hard fan. She balled her eyes out when she opened her present from her older sister Ashley on her 17th birthday. It was tickets to Katy’s Boston concert. She proceeded to put on a red boa and got all dressed up Katy Perry style. At the concert she was singing so loud and crying that people were moving their kids away but Kathryn didn’t care she just kept on singing. Ashley had never seen her so happy! Kate was so inspired by Katy and she loved her so much that she and her best friend, Darien wanted to get double rainbow helix tattoos. When Kathryn passed Darien and Ashley got Katy’s lyrics tattoed in Sanskrit just like Katy because that is what Kate would have wanted. Before the concert Kathryn spent $14 on lipstick because she thought it was Katy Perry pink. She loved Teenage Dream and couldn’t even sing all the songs because she was crying so much. She was beyond excited when Katy performed at the Super Bowl. Squealing, yelling and jumping around during the performance. She loved Katy so much!

Katy’s Grammy performance which brought awareness of domestic violence came just 3 days before Kathryn’s murder. Katy is so respected and admired by the younger generation. Her voice would speak so loudly to bring awareness to dating violence with teens. Deaths like Kathryn do not have to happen and could have been avoided with more education on how to identify the signs. More education is needed so that our youth can protect themselves. We need something good to come out of Kathryn’s death and it would be a fitting tribute.

Our request is simple. Because of her great love and admiration for Katy we are hoping that Katy would do something special for Kate’s younger sister Mariah. Mariah not only lost a sister but she was the one that found Kate on that horrible day. She is just 16 years old and is in unspeakable pain. As friends of the family we are focused on surrounding Mariah with as much joy, support and love as possible. We know that contact with Katy would mean so much to the family and to Kathryn. It would be a dream come true!

Thank you so much for your consideration! Attached are some pictures of this beautiful young woman.

Sincerely,

The friends of Kathryn Rose Mauke"
