Trailer - The Place Beyond the Pines.

Excellent looking film from the director of Blue Valentine.  What I like about this trailer is how they used dialogue from the film and placed it over scenes stripped of almost any audio.  Music wise, Suicide’s “Che” sets the tone of inevitable consequences, while Mike Patton’s “Snow Angel” helps the audience to understand the reasoning behind the characters’ actions.  ”You ride like lightning, you’re going to crash like thunder.”

Been staring at this for the past 5 min. And it made me happy that it just so happened to work with this song xD #mymusic #gif #adorable #kawaii #KAWAIIASFUCK #kitteh #kitten #dancing #capitalcities #perfectsync

Trailer - Beyond The Black Rainbow.  Saw this trailer when it first came out and was intrigued.  Haven’t seen the film yet, but from what I hear, it’s all style and no substance.  ”The trailer is better than the movie.”  That happens a lot - hey, good advertising.  But I would definitely watch this for the visuals and soundtrack alone.

Trailer - I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Was listening to 90s soundtracks, remembered how I loved Kula Shaker’s - “Hush” at the end of this.  Something about a poppy song over slasher mayhem.

Trailer - “Nightcrawler”

Exceptional trailer for this dark and mysterious thriller coming out in the Fall.  CSS’s “Faith In Love” sets a perfect tone of impending madness…and the inevitable trail of destruction it will leave in its wake.

Can’t wait to see who’s doing the score.

As much as I love car commercials, liquor ads take a close second.  Not going for  the glamorous, sophisticated image (Dos Equis, Disaronno), Southern Comfort’s new campaign is all about not giving a damn what anybody thinks - “whatever’s comfortable.”  The hip, cool, and groovy track is “Hit or Miss” by Odetta.

Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.  What I love about this trailer:  How the visual pace is seamlessly cut to the music.  How there is no dialogue or sound from the film itself.  If you weren’t familiar with the story beforehand, you would have no idea what the hell this movie is about.  But it would probably leave you pretty intrigued to learn more.  That’s effective advertising.

Insightful - Ghostly Chatter.

In a perfect world, I’d be a music supervisor for GoPro.  Insightful represents a genre of electronic music I’m very much into, and it lends itself well to these kinds of cinematic and airy visuals that GoPro showcases.  If you’re into his track, you should definitely check out the entire Soulection label.  The video should start playing at the 04m18s mark.

Trailer - Lone Survivor.

An amazing looking story of heroism and brotherhood.  I’m assuming the post-rock cue is Explosions In The Sky, which is great for the expansive and unknown territory that is Afghanistan. Peter Gabriel’s cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes” is what really makes this trailer stick out.

Commercial - The Windows Phone Nokia Lumia 928.  Windows has been featuring some of the coolest music in their advertising as of late.  Alt-J’s “Fitzpleasure” sets the driving pace to capture the night with the “best low light smartphone.”

Trailer - Simon Killer.

Fast paced, unsettling trailer with a dark subject matter.  Watch for yourself as it unravels with Matthew Dear’s “You Put A Spell On Me” taking you along for the ride.  I’ve always loved trailers with flashing text graphics and critic reviews - perfectly cut.

2013 Honda Civic Sedan spot, featuring Santigold - Disparate Youth.  Unbelievable.  Easily the second time in my life where a song I wanted to sync myself has been done so.  I need to get my ass to LA with the quickness.

Commercial - BMW “Feeling Remains”

I heard Awolnation’s “Sail” in the background at some point, somewhere…and realized what an epically, amazing track it is for syncing to picture.  I knew it’d been synced before, so I had to do some You-tubing….lo and behold, an auto spot.  I swear, my calling is to be a music supervisor exclusively for the auto industry.  I also have a huge, cinematic vision for this song in a film.  I’ll keep that to myself.

Trailer - Kiss Of The Damned.

Sex, drugs, and vampires.  Love the psychedelic/acid rock vibe of this trailer.  Definitely not a film for Twilight fans.

Sebadoh - Spoiled (from the 1995 film, Kids.  One of the most brutally honest films I’ve ever seen.  Relentless in its depiction of modern day youth - drugs, sex, and violence.  The last frame and quote by Casper is one that lingers and will stay with you long after.

Canon commercial for the new EOS Rebel T4i.  Great song choice - lyrics are perfect and I love how it gently plays over the wild situations photographers put themselves in to get the perfect shot.

Entourage.  Probably the show that got me into music supervision - I just didn’t know it at the time.  La Roux - “In For The Kill (Skream’s Let’s Get Ravey Remix)” was a solid choice for Vince hitting rock bottom.  Hey Scott, let me know if you need an assistant/coordinator.
