Not only is today Friday, it’s also Paul Bunyan Day! We just love this stamp, one of four Folk Heroes stamps issued in 1996. According to the legend, Paul created the Great Lakes so that his ox Babe could have somewhere to drink.
Here’s my rendition of Paul Bunyan from my story “Dragonfly Holiday”
After being raised by humans and enjoying a long career alongside them, Paul retires and seeks out another of his kind. By tracking reports of missing people in the desert mountains, he ventures to find Lucette, who he befriends and teaches how it is possible to coexist with humans by eating their Troubles. He specializes in canning and jarring these Troubles for consumption- a dangerous process.
