Monumental Double Spiral, Urnfield Period, 12th - 10th century BC

An unusually large example made of square wire, the upper edges with decorative notches in some places. Beautiful dark green patina. Width 21 cm.

The Urnfield culture (c. 1300 BC – 750 BC) was a late Bronze Age culture of central Europe. The name comes from the custom of cremating the dead and placing their ashes in urns which were then buried in fields. The Urnfield culture followed the Tumulus culture and was succeeded by the Hallstatt culture. The Urnfield culture is the earliest archaeological period that can be justifiably considered Proto-Celtic.

Not the best photo, but this cool old patina-ed beetle was parked in my street over the weekend.

It was old, it was dirty, it was lowered on some period correct Fuch style wheels, and it was awesome.

Wasn’t sure what year it was, it’s definitely older than most Beetles you see (1967) but looked to be obviously newer than the earliest “split-window” bugs.

After a brief consultation with the ever-wise wikipedia, it looks to be a 1952-3 “Zwitter” or “hybrid” beetle, a split-window body shell with oval-window trim, dash and windows. It even has the old Wolfsburg emblem on the bonnet (errr… boot/trunk?) which i’d personally never seen before.

I need your help you guys.

I always thought the young adult Broadway-loving community was so cool because everyone’s so passionate and vocal and supportive and guess what I just learned? We’re INVISIBLE.

This month I’ve heard over and over from a few established people in the entertainment industry that BROADWAY IS ONLY A MARKET FOR PEOPLE IN THEIR 50’S AND YOUNG ADULTS DON’T CARE FOR MUSICAL THEATRE.

Cleeeearrrrllllyyyy, this is false. My best friend and I are trying to do something awesome for all of us young lovers of the theatre but I need to prove that this community is alive and well. Please REBLOG (don’t repost as I can’t trace it haha) and have our voices heard!

"And the die is cast,
and the torch is passed,
and the roar wil rise,
from the streets below,
and our ranks will grow and grow and grow and so
the world will feel the fire and finally know!”

I’m 17 years old and I LOVE BROADWAY.
