Military Life Review: The Live fire Gear - Emergency Starter.
Live fire is one of the most compact, efficient, and ergonomic fire starter kits I’ve seen in a long time. It is light and burns hot, and lights easily with a spark from a ferocerium rod, lighter or match. The kit is entirely waterproof, and will even light after being submerged for a long period of time.
The Live Fire comes in two different sizes, the Sport (compact version) and the Original (larger version)
(Original) Each unit is approximately .90 oz in weight. Burn times average 30 minutes with the lid completely removed. Because the lid slides open and closed, it allows you to control the needed flame size. This also allows you to conserve resources as well as increase burn times.
(Sport) Each unit is approximately .50 oz in weight. Burn times average 15-25 minutes with the lid completely removed.
The fire starters both have a compact design that I greatly appreciated. It fits easily into a pocket, backpack, purse, tackle box, or an Emergency Kit.
You can also use the Fire Starters in the home to light the fireplace, barbecues, backyard fire pits etc. There are other methods of achieving those but I enjoyed using the Live Fire kits a lot more, as it made my life easier.
If you are in the dark in a emergency situation, and you don’t have a lighter or a flashlight, you also can use the Live Fire as a candle when needed.
If you find yourself in the dark or in an emergency situation, and you don’t have a lighter or a flashlight you can use the Live Fire kit.
Or if you are stranded in the day, the case serves as a signaling mirror that can be seen for miles out.
I found using the Live Fire fire starter very easy; all you need to do is open the tin container, expose some of the fibers and use an ignition source.
The fire starter is reusable; so when the fiber becomes too charred, just remove and use the rest.
Overall I was very pleased with the product, and recommend it for all people who are looking for a practical, lightweight, ergonomic, and cheap fire starter.
