030 – Geek Life – Comics

It’s all about comics this time. In our indie-review we look at issue 4 of Eben07′s “Operation 3 Ring Bound”. We have enjoyed our Eben-athon! Sadly we’re at the last printed issue, but fear not, we can all continue to enjoy Eben07 and Ninja-Dan’s adventures on Eben07.com as E. Burgoon and D. Bethel continue their work on issue 5 of “Operation 3 Ring Bound”.

Next we talk web-comics. As we dig into the Geek Life staff’s personal favorite web-comics, we find some crazy, obscure and awesome ones to enjoy. Hopefully we mention something you’ve never heard of! It’s always good to have ANOTHER one to read… Right? (^_^)

029 – Geek Life – A Year of Geek Life

THE Brian and JP put together a years worth of gag-reels and look back over the first year of PandaManga.com’s Geek Life Podcast! That’s right!! We made it through our first year. There were ups, downs, good, bad and lots of FUN! Thanks for coming with us on this journey. As we continue into the new year, we are thankful for surviving this long as many podcasts don’t make it past their first few months. A full year is a huge accomplishment and a big milestone in our efforts to bring you all the geeky goodness we can muster! Thanks again and don’t forget to tell your friends!

We will resume our normally scheduled subjects and such next time on Ep 30 of Geek Life. Next up is comics!

Holiday! Oh! Holiday!

We at PandaManga.com have been kicking ass and making content for a while now! We’re all so proud of everything we’ve accomplished and shared with the PM community! However, in our furious whirlwind of content creation, making podcasts, comics, covering events and writing reviews and articles… we totally forgot to give our poor contributors a moment to catch their breath and stay fresh!

So we’ve decided to do just that. We’re giving our content creators a holiday for the month of March. We will still release podcasts each week, so don’t worry about that! However our comic releases will go on a short hiatus and return on Monday April 1st. I know this isn’t exactly what you wanted hear, but trust me when I say that we don’t want to take our contributors for granted and burn them out!

We love you all and will return on the 1st of April with Artistic Monk and Dinner & Dragons….and hopefully something new and exciting! (^_^)

034– Geek Life – Games

On this week’s Geek Life we spotlight the excellent web-comic “Happle Tea” by Scott Maynard. Happle is about a kid named Lil K and his adventures with God, Sasquatch and an array of mythological creatures, gods and cryptids! Check out “Happle Tea” at Happletea.com and be sure to follow Scott on twitter @happletea.

We then review “Organ Trail: Directors Cut” by The Men Who Wear Many Hats. This hilarious and difficult game is a love letter to the original “Oregon Trail” many of us played as children, only with zombies…and zombie bears. Totally worth a play and available on iOS and Andriod!

Finally we get into our Indie Comic Review! We gab about Jared Manninen and Joe Daley’s “Gruesome Tales Vol.1” available from MakotoPress.com! Jared and Joe’s “Gruesome Tales” is a trade paperback collection of several short stories meant “To Tickle Your Terror Bone”, and it does just that. This collection presents some genuinely creepy tales!

Music is provided by AirPlus Recordings+. This week’s song is “Come On

” by Dfsa90 available on “Airplus Recordings – Singles Vol. 3

“. If you like this song, be sure to support Dfsa90 and AirPlus Recordings!

We’re back baby! Epic craziness recently but, PM endures! First, forgive the uneven audio this time around, I totally had some of the twizzly nobs on our gear set to the wrong recording pattern so…. darn. Anyway, it’s all about movies this time. First we review “Operation 3 Ring Bound” issue 2 from the guys over at Eben07.com! We caught up with E. Burgoon & D.Bethel (Eben07 creators) at the recent Sac-Con, where they generously hooked us up with their latest issues.

Next is our movie segment: “What would Georg Lucas Do”. Good o’l Georgie boy seems to have an insatiable need to tweak, modify and in general add stupid shit to his movies after the fact. We ask the question, WWGLD? Today, George’s target is… the Back To The Future trilogy!

Music is provided by AirPlus Recordings+. This week’s song is “Six Degrees” by Vague Illusion, off his “Mo Anam Cara” Ep. “Mo Anam Cara” is currently available free on AirPlusRecordings.com!

Welcome to the Comics ParaCast! This time we review “Planet Of The Vampire Women: The Chronicles of Jak Vanda” by Darin Wood and Paul Allen. This hilariously entertaining and dynamic comic totally tickled our funny bones. Vampire Women is based on the similarly titled film “Planet Of The Vampire Women” written and directed by Darin Wood.

After our first comic review, we forgo a second review in favor of telling some of our personal paranormal stories around the Geek Life campfire. So grab a bag of marshmallows and sit around the fire with us as we tell spine chilling stories from our own lives.

Music is provided by AirPlus Recordings+. This week’s songs are both by the one, the only Vague Illusion. The songs in order of play are “With You” and “Hysteria“. “With You” is available on “AirPlus Recordings+ Singles Vol. 3” and “Hysteria” is off of Vague’s new album “Binary“.
