A Tale of Two Filsons: The Alaska and Seattle Fits

Filson’s been killing it lately under the design eye of Paul Choi, who’s not only introduced technical fabrics into the mix, but forward-thinking clothes that look to the past like the Guide Work Jacket. The Seattle company isn’t alienating their old consumers by any means, and they’re also managing to attract a new, more style-conscious fan base—ironic for a company that’s known for its resistance to trends.

In addition to hardy luggage that appeals to men from all sorts of professions and walks of life, their clothing now benefits from two different cuts: The classic “Alaska Fit” and slimmer “Seattle Fit.” To demonstrate the difference between both fits, Filson enlisted Dolorean frontman Al James and MM.Fashion contributor David Coggins (who’s also an avid fly fisherman) to take a couple garments out for a spin. You can see the difference between the two fits in the gallery above too.
