Chinese Netcore/Netis routers boast a really serious backdoor

Netis and Netcore, brands of a Chinese security devices manufacturer, have been found not to take security matters that seriously, since some of those Netis/Netcore routers have a really awful backdoor that makes it easy for anyone in the know to take full control of the routers’ functions. The backdoor is in fact a hardcoded […]

Ohhhh honey. Do you have distilled water & a Neti pot? It feels weird but it can start things moving.

No distilled water, and anyways, Neti pots are unsafe.  Even with distilled water, the pot needs to be sterile or germs can get where they oughtn’t. My OCD takes a look at that and says fuck no.  Also, the idea of the sensation makes me shudder.

Besides, things are moving. My nose is constantly dripping snot. I don’t want to think about things moving any more than they are, thanks.

'Who am I? 'has no answer to it; it is unanswerable. Your mind will supply many answers. Your mind will say, 'You are the essence of life. You are the eternal soul. You are divine,' and so on and so forth. All those answers have to be rejected: NETI NETI - one has to go on saying, 'Neither this nor that.'

When you have denied all the possible answers that the mind can supply and devise, when the question remains absolutely unanswerable, a miracle happens: suddenly the question also disappears. When all the answers have been rejected, the question has no props, no supports inside to stand on any more. It simply flops, it collapses, it disappears.

When the question also has disappeared, then you know. But that knowing is not an answer: it is an existential experience.

Writing a Server Netis - Netty in Scala

Netis is a project which I have initiated to write Scala apps on top of Netty. Creating a service that runs on a TCP is quite simple as follows :

 NetisServer(9090, (url, params) => {
    url match {
      case "java" => {
        params("param1") + " > " +
          "returning java"
      }
      case "user/id" => {
        params("goGetter")
        "{\"id\" : \"response\"}"
      }
    }
  }).run

We can notice few things from the above code

  • Define server which runs @ port 9090
  • The url , params are those requests which the service can respond to , any other would be ignored.
  • URL handled returns only string (i.e JSON string which is omitted in the code for brevity)
  • Like how HTTPRequest has a param these URL’s have some params associated which could be accessed with params(“param_name”)

As of now Netis is under active development. This post is a kickstart for anyone to get involved in the project. Any suggestions / citations are welcome.
