Jan Vávra  Neo-pictorialism

Vávra is a Czech photographer who graduated at the institute of Creative Photography in Opava.  Jan Vávra is concentrated on objects and “still life” photography, which he calls “found things.” His own concept of space is evident throughout his work, enhanced by the use of different techniques (light pencil drawings), artificially constructed objects that are photographed and dismantled immediately after exposure, experimenting in night landscapes, using additional light sources, exposure time, etc. The resulting photographs are a combination of a variety of techniques, resulting in ‘photo-objects’, which sought to identify and design an entirely new conception of space and its functions. These works belong to the current neo-pictorialism, excelling in inventiveness and technical mastery.
