Prayer is that which enables the soul to realise its divinity. Through prayer human beings worship absolute truth, and seek an eternal reward.
Prayer is the foundation-stone of religion; and religion is the means by which the soul is purified of all that pollutes it.
Prayer is the worship of the first cause of all things, the supreme ruler of all the world, the source of all strength.
Prayer is the adoration of the one who’s being is necessary.

Ibn Sina

This mash-up of Sufi poetry and Coldplay’s “Fix You” makes me want to float away.  Here are the Arabic lyrics with a rough translation:

االنفس تشكو ومن يدري بما فيها
سواك يا خالق الدنيا و باريها

روحي على الدور طول الليل ساهرة
تأسو الجراح و لا تغفو لياليها

تئن في طرقات الريح ضارعة

يـــــــــــارب … يــــــــــــارب

My soul is tormented, and no one knows about what it endures but You: Creator of this world and my soul;

My soul is restless, hovering all night, healing wounds;

Moaning on the paths of the wind;

Calling O Lord, O Lord.

(Sheikh Mawlana Nazim Adil El Haqqani & Sheikh Abdul Kerim Hz)

Holy Prophet (asws) is saying, ‘speak the knowledge that you have experience. Don’t speak something that you don’t know.’

When you are speaking something, give something to somebody else, speak the knowledge that is going to give benefit to you and others, or keep silence. Otherwise, we will be responsible for every word that we are saying, especially when it comes to the matter of religion.

-Sheykh Abdul Kerim El Kibrisi Hz.

The rusting of the heart mainly comes from one major issue: the sins we do by “ghaflah” - heedlessness. When your heart is heedless Shaytan quickly attacks and enters in order to rust your heart. So slowly, slowly, it rusts and veils itself and the heart becomes blind; the heart does not have the light it had when you were born.
—  Shaykh Hisham Al-Kabbani

Awliya Allah they are like that. So many times, we have so many problems, it’s all entangled up in our head, it’s choking us, it’s strangling us. We don’t know where to turn, we have our Sheykh, we can’t wait to see him and when we see him, we want to say everything. But just being in his presence now, everything starts disentangling. Everything else melts away. Suddenly you have all these problems, all these questions, they are not important anymore. You sit and you just feel strong, you feel save. Answers come to you and you say, ‘it doesn’t matter.’

This is what the Friends of Allah does. Because he looks to your heart and he sees it. Because he has gone through that, and he understands what it is that needs to be done. He doesn’t even need to speak that time. He will look, and according to the strength of that Sheykh, he doesn’t even need to look with these physical eyes. All he needs is for you to take one step. He will take ten steps. If you come to him running, maybe he will fly to you.
