IT’S THE MUPPET FAIRY TALES. You don’t understand they do NOT release these on DVD I’ve been trying to get my hands on the VHS tapes for YEARS but I’ve only ever tracked down Hey Cinderella before. I had the records of these and they DEFINED my childhood, possibly more than the actual Muppet Show. If you have a few hours you MUST check them out. They are magical!
Hey Cinderella! (x, x, x, x, x, x)
Notable for being (maybe?) the first time Kermit is identified as being a frog and for being co-written by Tom Whedon a.k.a. Joss’s dad. The Whedons are a TV writing dynasty, with three generations ending up in the business. Don’t pretend you’re not curious to see what the writing is like. (Hint: it is funny. The writing is Muppet Funny.)
The Muppet Musicians of Bremen (x, x, x, x, x)
Notable for the sickest burn ever delivered by a frog:
Leroy the Donkey: Okay, but I feel like a jackass.
Kermit: Yeah, well that kind of figures.
Need I say more?
The Frog Prince
Notable for being my FAVOURITE. Oh my god I love this one. Talking wackbirds, Kermit advocating swamp life, the first appearances of Robin and Sweetums, GOSH. SO GOOD.
