copenhagen fashion week: munthe plus simonsen

maybe it was a coincidence that the munthe plus simonsen f/w 2011 show included a model (above) who strongly resembled singer/actress/performer zooey deschanel, but considering that homegirl’s eclectic-cute style sense and personality meshes quite well with the show, i don’t think so.

the line was developed in 1994 by friends naja munthe & karen simonsen (because you wondered how they might have thought up that clever name on their own!) and is still rather small.  although themes fluctuate from season to season, the label is renowned for their blending of contemporary elements with traditional danish motifs.

local reviews of the show noted the show’s similarity to previous seasons, with the breezy cuts, lace, leather, and hip seventies charms, but were quick to point out the collection’s appeal as well.  it would be easy to see the allure for the fashionie pack, with layered ensembles such as the one above; they gave off both an ease and accentuated all the right figure elements for girls who appreciate the aforementioned ms. deschanel as much as they do a staple leather jacket or pair of knee-length boots.
