Japan 48 Hours Ch.6: Back in Tokyo

Exhausted and back in Tokyo. I should’ve probably been more emotional since that’s the only way people seemed to be entertained. No one seems to think anymore, it’s all about how we feel. Anyway, there’s a bit of music too and a disappointing visit to a hotel bathroom.

Still want more of me once the video ends ;) well you can find me here:

Sometimes I really do miss my first bike! It was a 1982 Suzuki GS650. My husband cleaned and tuned every inch of the engine to get it running well again. (I was the helper/moral support as usual for these things) Despite its massive weight I think it will always be my favorite bike I’ve owned. #suzuki #motorcycle #motogirl #motovlogger #motochick #veganmotogirl #GS650 #650 #memorylane #whatveganslooklike #veganchick #vegangirl

For relaxing times…

Just a short update after I returned from the best 48 hours of riding in my life in Japanime. My motorcycle diaries will be on the way as soon a team of reindeer start cutting a splicing the footage. It was all recorded on 35mm reel because I’m obtuse not retro.

I’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts. There they are, all standing in a row. Big ones, small ones, some as big as your helmet. Give them a twist a flick of the wrist and they’ll splooge.

Someday I wanna be a Moto Vlogger

I spent a large part of today trying to work things out with my contourHD helmet camera, and the digital audio recorder I bought to record my voice while motovlogging (there must be a better word than this).  I took a 30 minute ride around the city planning to cut out large sections of the video and audio and make it into a short tour of the city where I live. Something short enough to hold the circus monkey’s attention on YouTube.  When I imported the video and audio into the computer found my audio was way to loud. It sounded terrible and couldn’t be used. My video was also pretty bad. I didn’t have the lens on the contourHD rotated quite right. I could have cropped and rotated it while editing, but since my audio was no good I decided to go out and try again.

I set the audio recorder to low, and put a larger bit of foam around the mic to keep out the wind noise.  Went for another tour of the city, got back found the audio to be barley passable. Even worse the CoutourHD had recorded the entire time, but the file wouldn’t play. Every program I tried to open it with said it was a corrupt file. So another wasted attempt at motovlogging.

Someday I want to be a Motovlogger. It seems like a great way to make a quick video letting people know what I have been up to, and show the viewer interesting things about where I ride.

If I ever get a helmet camera that doesn’t suck, and sort out my microphone, I’ll be sure and let you know.

Going Pro to the Clapham Gloryhole

A test to see how the GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition handles dusk conditions in 1080p 24fps with Protune switched on and RAW enabled. I’ve done ménage à trois colour correction (3-way) using the orange & teal method to give it that gritty London look.

I’d say that both myself and the camera have performed well enough that I may start using it all my edits since it keeps far more colour information which avoids overexposed skies. So if you get bored of listening to me you can enjoy a bit of London scenery.

Just so we’re clear…this is an account of my own experience of choosing a 600cc as my first bike immediately after passing my unrestricted licence test in the UK. I’m not preaching or giving an opinion about whether it’s right or wrong, that’s ultimately a choice for each rider. I wanted to make this vlog while I’m still pretty green to motorcycling to avoid the distortion that the lens of time often brings.

For new riders, this video is just one more voice among many to help you make a more informed decision. When I was making the decision, I found the whole topic to be quite polarised and as a result this vlog is to add to the voices of reason. But whatever you choose, it allow to experience one of humanity’s greatest creations…after Jenga.

If you don’t give a shit about the above, it was a really sunny day in London so it’s partly a tour of this beautiful city. If you don’t like that, check out the edgy Finnish YouTube vlogging scene. Trust me, we all look like the guy in this video http://youtu.be/VaDgW9rhxx4

Filmed in glorious HD on a GoPro Hero 3 Fap Edition.

Alcohol & Christmas

To get into the Christmas spirit I created a theme mod for my bike which also makes me more visible at night. Anyway I had to go for a ride because it’s been tiling it down for days and today has been the first day of sun in what feels like eons.

I should take a leaf out of Spicy110’s book and go riding through the shitstorm that’s arriving tomorrow, it will be like the Weather Channel but a little more interesting.

Here’s the original post for the home delivery service offered to alcoholics in Finland.

Missing my snowmobile

As winter approaches, I begin to miss the snowy Finnish wilderness. Neither the English winter or the DVLA allow for me to commute to work on a snowmobile, although if this were possible one may become known as the douchebag of the office.

If you aren’t persuaded I suggest to take a look at the Lynx snowmobiles still manufactured North of the Arctic Circle in Finnish Lapland. http://youtu.be/M3gjx4dKRf0

If you aren’t enticed by that magical winter wonderland I call home combined with those awesome machines, kindly sod off. That was a bit harsh, at least try it once, I personally guarantee you will not be disappointed. The petrol that courses through your veins demands that you experience that at least once in your life.

While editing this video, I found the colour grading tool but unfortunately if the video was shot in low light conditions everything gets even darker if you try and apply the Orange & Teal look. You may find yourself exclaiming, as the Good Doctor said of Ron Howard’s Da Vinci Code, “Turn on the fucking lights!”

First motovlog of the only Finnish motovlogger in London

It’s all in the beginnings they say, that’s why the icebreaker for my first motovlog (we all knew there was going to be an icebreaker reference) is an embarrassing poo story in the wilderness of Surrey. Wait, this is Tumblr so I need to be a little more artsy and cultured - A Tale of Defecation. Unfortunately the sound guy, Heikki, set the microphone input gain level too high and much time was spent repairing the audio track. He was promptly told to sod off, better sound should be on the horizon. The scriptwriter was also fired…something about using the word ‘so’ too many times. So…without a team it’s all gone low-budget since it’s just me with my GoPro while I GoSlow.

They also say that the best ideas are borrowed and the great ones are stolen, so you aren’t going to get anywhere preaching to me about similarities in production style to other motovloggers. As you can guess I’m a self confessed hypocrite. Besides you are sitting on the bog watching this from a mobile device who’s manufacturer adopted the same principles. You can stop reading now if you are expecting me to talk about Formula 1, WRC or Sauna…that will all come in time, dear friends.
