Ralph Mosher, an engineer working for General Electric in the 1950s, developed a robotic exoskeleton called Hardiman. The mechanical suit, consisting of powered arms and legs, could give him superhuman strength.
Hardiman is a name derived somehow, from “Human Augmentation Research and Development Investigation.” and Man from MANipulator.
Today I realised how many people down where I go to Universtiy were unaware of the disgusting crime that was commited against Sophie Lancaster and her boyfriend Robert Maltby and I go to a university which is STILL in Britain. I understand it’s more heard of where I am from as I am from the same county that Sophie was, Lancashire, North West England.
Anybody who doesn’t know the story, here goes, Sophie and Robert were viciously attacked and beaten for being goths. Robert lived. Sophie didn’t.
Out of this tragedy, some good did come, Sophie’s Mother founded the S.O.P.H.I.E foundation. S.O.P.H.I.E = Stamp out prejudice, hatred and intolerance everywhere. The case was treated as a hate crime, which previously attacks on somebody for how they dressed wouldn’t have been. After 6 years campaigning, this has become the case for all attacks driven by the hatred of those are considered goths or alternative.
It is a wonderful cause, spreading awareness so a tragedy like this doesn’t happen again.
The photo’s at the top are of Sophie herself.
The photo at the bottom is my S.O.P.H.I.E t-shirt ‘weirdo,mosher,freak..if only they’d stopped at name calling’ and my sophie wristband.
I just feel this story needs to be heard more and the foundation and their cause needs to be spread. I was shocked by how many people STILL in the UK were unaware of this.
