THE EVOLUTION OF WALTER WHITE: BY COLOR

"At the beginning of every series we would have a meeting in which I would discuss with the production designer and the costume designer about the specific palettes we would use for any given character throughout the course of the year"…Gilligan is so obsessed with the colors of the show’s characters, that he apparently tracks their progress by what colors they’re wearing. “For instance in the pilot, it was intentional that Walt start off very beige and khaki-ish, very milquetoast, and he would progress through that one hour of television to green and thus show his process of evolution as a character." make me choose: lilychambler asked: Skyler White or Jane Margolis:

Vince Gilligan and the show’s writers made Skyler multilayered and, in her own way, morally compromised. But at the end of the day, she hasn’t been judged by the same set of standards as Walter. […] Because Skyler didn’t conform to a comfortable ideal of the archetypical female, she had become a kind of Rorschach test for society, a measure of our attitudes toward gender. - Anna Gunn

  • group leader:so the truth is, we can't change the past. what's done is done. we gotta own our actions, but, putting ourselves on trial, acting as our own judge, jury, and executioner, is not the answer. because a lot of the time all that judging does is just ensure that we're gonna repeat the cycle. right? we're not here to sit in judgment.
  • jesse:why not? the thing is, if you just do stuff and nothing happens, what's it all mean? what's the point? oh, right, so this whole thing is about self-acceptance.
  • group leader:kicking the hell out of yourself doesn't give meaning to anything.
  • jesse:so i should stop, JUDGING, and accept-
  • group leader:it's a start!
  • jesse:so no matter what i do, hooray for me because i'm a great guy? it's all good? no matter how many dogs i kill i just, what, do an inventory? and accept? i mean, you back your truck over your own kid and you, like, accept?
  • group leader:hey, jesse, i know you're in pain...
  • jesse:no, y-y-you know what? why i'm here in the first place... is to sell you meth! you're nothing to me but customers! you okay with that? huh? you accept?
  • group leader:no.
  • jesse:about time.
