have you noticed how I write fic when I’m frustrated about something
this fic is manga-canon, mostly because in the manga, Mikorin and Mayu already knew each other before the festival. I think.
Mikoshiba Mikoto’s ideals were being stepped on repeatedly by this reality, this festival with its non-yukata-wearing boys and girls. His image of festivals was just too beautiful, and the reality was extremely disappointing. Not to mention, Sakura and Kashima disappeared while he was looking at the gachapons. He was lost, wearing a yukata in a sea of casual-looking people, and unsure of what to do now.
The gachapon had limited editions Riria figures though, so there’s that. He might as well milk this chance for all its worth. (He was afraid that if he stepped away from here, Sakura and Kashima won’t find him later.)
Nozaki Mayu was tired. Arguing would have been more tiring though, so he agreed to join his parents in walking around the festival. Not to mention, his father actually threatened to ground him if he did not join them, saying “we only have one son in the house now, so you should accompany your poor parents”. Exaggerated drama was a thing in their family, he thinks.
Unfortunately, his parents did not foresee how many people were in the festival, and how slow Mayu walked. So, of course, they got separated.
Sitting in one corner was better though, so there’s that. He might as well rest where he can, and wait for his parents to find him.
