“Lynhurst”, I. Layton Register residence
Haverford, PA

Built in 1886 by Furness, Evans & Co.

From Rural Pennsylvania in the Vicinity of Philadelphia by Samuel Fitch Hotchkin:

“Lynhurst is the name of I. Layton Register’s place, near Haverford and Ardmore. ‘Lyn’ designates the stream and water-fall, and 'hurst’ the extensive woods which adorn the forty acres surrounding this charming country-seat. The stream is utilized by an overshot wheel at the fall, as power to force water from a spring to the house as well as the stable… Mr. Register has resided here in the summer for ten years. The house of bluish gray stone, with slate roof, was constructed after he purchased the farm from designs of Furness, Evans & Co., from stone on the place.”

Well, holiday’s gonna be over soon. And I just like, “Come on, Mels! Time’s precious!” So, suddenly I remembered one thing. I went to my room and found my DVDs. There are still two or three movies I had not watched, “Time’s precious. I’ll eat them all.”

I chose The Greening of Whitney Brown, DVD I’ve bought long-long-long-time ago. Yes, exaggerated, huh? Haha! Nice, warm, and fun movie though.

I browsed its soundtrack and this is one of them. Exactly by Lynhurst. Watching this music video and, “Lynhurst… Well, cool.”
Where on earth are you for just knowing the band now? Think I’m gonna download their other songs.

A few days ago, Jennifer Smith’s son brought home a permission slip from Rhoades Elementary in Indianapolis. The slip, which announced an end-of-the-year celebration pool party for his 6th grade class, seemed innocuous at first —on Monday, May 18th, the 6th grade class was invited to go to the Lynhurst Center to “reward [the children] for all of their hard work and good citizenship throughout the school year.” All sounded well and good and happy until Smith got to the pool party requirements, one of which read, “All girls must wear a non-white t-shirt over their swimsuit.” This immediately stopped Smith in her tracks.

“Being a feminist and seeing things through that filter, I was just kind of enraged by that. They’re saying little girls need to be ashamed of their bodies and cover themselves up,” Smith told The Huffington Post. And Smith has a really valid point here. To instruct girls to cover up their bodies is to perpetuate the idea that a female’s body is something sacredly sexual and must be protected, that it’s provocative and dirty, as well as a distraction. And that’s just not right.

Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago and More!

Hello Friends of Lynhurst!
We are playing a number of exciting shows this week and would love to have you there! TOMORROW, Thursday September 29 we will be playing a new music venue in downtown Minneapolis called The Crooked Pint Ale House. They did a fantastic job putting this place together! It is wonderful to see new music venues coming up in the Twin Cities and The Crooked Pint is one of our favorites.

This Saturday, Lynhurst will be a part of the very cool Yellow Phone Music Conference. This is in Milwaukee and is focused on developing artists. Lynhurst performs the wild Red Rock Saloon! Click here for the Yellow Phone website.

This Tuesday, October 4 we will return to Chicago, the hometown of our drummer Steady Eddie! The performance will be at the Tonic Room with the very swanky Chicago based band Mos Scocious. If you live in the area, please come out. We have been performing there more this year, and it’s always fun to play the ‘big city’ in the Midwest. Show details at the bottom of the page!

East Coast
We will be heading out to the East Coast in late October, with a college date booked in Conneticut and a show at the Rockwood in NYC on October 25. Stay tuned for additional performances.

For The Record :)
You can buy our newest release “One Of These Days - EP” everywhere online, at shows and in Twin CIties CHEAPO Record Stores.

Book Lynhurst!
We are currently booking the Fall and Winter! In addition to public shows, we’ve been enjoying playing private events- some full band and some acoustic. To book LYNHURST, please contact:
