“The Kenyan men in this video told us they wanted to make one that pokes fun at the way African men are portrayed in Hollywood films and the media. They said, “’f people believed only what they saw in movies, they would think we are all warlords who love violence.’ They, like Mama Hope, are tired of the over-sensationalized, one-dimensional depictions of African men and the white savior messaging that permeates our media. They wanted to tell their own stories instead, so we handed them the mic and they made this video.

Worth it, if just for the line, “We’re talking to you, shirtless Matthew McConaughey”

Amazing!

(obvious criticism caveat: made by Mama Hope who are just “another white-staffed NGO run out of California”)

Brutality from security backfires, as football fans refuse to idly watch the harassment.

Info: video is of a match between a local Swiss team and Benfica (a Portuguese club). A Portuguese supporter invaded the pitch with a sign about the Portuguese referee. He was caught and got a beating from private security, who forgot that most of spectators probably identified with the invader more than them.

Truly heartening vid that’s resurfaced on the net recently, even though it’s from years ago. ACAB! ASAB!

Cameron was supposed to open six new classrooms at Northern House School in Oxford yesterday. However, when it came to the ribbon-cutting ceremony, eight-year-old Cian Simmons held on to the scissors, spoke to Cameron and proceeded to cut the ribbon himself, leaving Cameron to explain sheepishly: “They haven’t given me the scissors because we don’t want any more cuts.”

Three cheers for Cian.

Don’t care if this story is true, it rules anyway.

Ryan Gosling — New York City’s most famous conflict resolution expert — has done yet another good deed on the streets of Manhattan. This time, he reportedly prevented a woman from getting hit by a taxi.

The New York Observer picked up on a tweet from Laurie Penny — a British writer for The New Statesman who blogs about “pop culture and politics with a radical twist” — in which she announced to the social media masses that the star of “Drive” had just saved her from a speeding cab.

Identity of no-idea-if-actually-a-manarchist-but-definitely-a-decent-sort Ryan Gosling confirmed by girl near me, who said ‘you lucky bitch’
