Joni Ernst: A Tale Of Trickle Down Economics

When Joni Ernst gave her response to Obama’s State of the Union address, she told millions of viewers about her poor childhood and how she only owned one pair of shoes as a child, so she had to wear bread bags on her feet to keep her shoes dry when it rained.

Growing up, Ernst lived the vast majority of her life under Republican presidents, including Ronald Reagan.

Sen. Ernst was born during the Nixon administration, started school under the Ford administration, had four years under the Carter administration, and graduated high school under the Reagan administration.

Yet, with Barack Obama as President, Joni Ernst was able to pick herself up by her bread bags to become Iowa’s first female Senator.
