Just realized I never really posted any pictures of me specifically from the Bioshock stuff at DragonCon…! Here’s my Big Sister, in her much better second rebuild at the DragonCon Aquarium Party this past year (2014)!
Photos are credit to Victor Voyeur and an edited shot from a friend!
My Little Sister, Big Daddy, and Jack Ryan are from my lovely teambioshock group! Not sure on the individual names for the others in the big shot, but they were all fantastic
I’m so proud of all my friends for pulling this cosplay together and doing it with such thoughtful class. They each had to think a lot about the characters and how extravagant or bland they were in regards to things they’d wear. They color matched and worked extra hard to make sure everything was perfect. It was a major project and I’ll probably upload this post later with more people like Dash and Spike from our group as they upload their own photos to DA.
For every choice, there is an echo, with each act we change the world. One man chose a city free of law and god, but others chose corruption, and so the city fell. If the world was reborn in your image, would it be paradise or perdition?
Although cosplay has been present for decades within the comics, anime, and sci-fi/fantasy fandoms, social media has played an integral role in the thriving communities of costuming that exist, such as Cosplay.com and the Superhero Costuming Forum. Over the years, the cosplay community has evolved into a creative outlet for many fans to establish and showcase some impressive feats of homemade disguise, craftsmanship, and sartorial superheroics at conventions. In honor of the caped crusaders of the convention scene, ComicsAlliance has created Best Cosplay Ever (This Week), an ongoing collection of some of the most impeccable, creative, and clever costumes that we’ve discovered and assembled into a super-showcase of pure fan-devoted talent.
Well, I’m spoiling you guys to a look at it. My finally completed Big Sister cosplay! (Well, I still have to put in the LEDs, but that won’t be until when I’m at the con)
In total, I’ve spent about $85 and 6 months on this costume. That makes it the cheapest and the longest I’ve ever spent making a costume. I can’t even tell you how proud I am of it. My cosplays before this just can’t compare in any way, shape, or form.
Thank you guys so much for all the love and support through me making this costume! I don’t know what I’d do without you all. C: But still keep watching! I have three (planned) photoshoots this weekend and I can’t wait to get all the photos back from them! :D Who knows, maybe I’ll pick up another photo op or two.
Na na na naaaa Bioshock! Shot in Frank Kitt’s Park, Wellington. I really like doing Bioshock stuff; I like grungy, gritty shoots more than pretty colourful ones I think. I also like that there’s a lot of light in this area - I prefer to use ambient light when shooting after dark, and luckily my 50mm lens handles it really well. These were all shot at 1.8f with shutterspeeds ranging from 1/15 to about 1/60, no tripod, varying ISO (I don’t think it got about 520? It might have done though, I try to keep it low if possible). Little bit of noise creeping in, especially in the first few of Abby, but not too bad with the little sisters later on.
Little Sisters - Danielle and Kylie, each made their own costume
Big Sister - Abby, who also made her costume, and was a very good sport about me shouting directions at her from on high! (I climbed some stairs)
