This is a modern reproduction of an 18th century German jaeger. Jaeger is a German word which translates as “hunter”. It’s the German equivalent to the Pennsylvania hunting rifle. This particular rifle was built by Brian C. LeMaster.
During the Revolutionary War there were a couple of corps of Hessian jaegers serving in America. One of these Jaegers was Captain Johan Ewald whose memoirs are a valuable source of information for historians.
