The Crocodile, formerly the Crocodile Cafe, sometimes called the Croc, is a music club at 2200 2nd Ave at Blanchard St in Seattle.
Opened as the Crocodile Cafe on April 30, 1991 by Stephanie Dorgan (who later married REM guitarist Peter Buck, who became partner in the business) the cafe quickly became a fixture on the local music scene.
It closed December 15, 2007 and reopened March 18, 2009 (Jerry Cantrell’s birthday) when a group of business people and musicians including Alice in Chains’ Sean Kinney purchased the establishment.
The new owners renamed it The Crocodile and it opened after much needed renovation.
During it’s 16 yr. run the Croc hosted numerous well known acts including Alice in Chains, Mad Season, Pearl Jam, Mudhoney to name a few.
