Krysko Boiler Room DJ Set at Warehouse Project

Bugged Out Weekender// Who's Who

Bugged Out Weekender is coming to Southport on the 7th-9th of March, bringing with it the very best in electronic music for a weekend of hedonistic beat bliss. In Honor of this LSRadio thought we’d give you even more reasons to get up there by running through some of our favorite acts playing the weekend.

Seth Troxler

Seth Troxler is the man Resident Advisor named 1st and 2nd best DJ in the word two years running. Not satisfied with conquering the world of dance music, Troxler goes on to co manage a restaurant in East London, Smoky Tails, where smokey meat is on the menu. But here is a chef who likes to have his cake and eat it too, as over at his DJ Collective cum label, Visonquest, Troxler’s hand is tangible at every turn. Seth Troxler is also notable for his many collaboration (see his 2009 number ‘Hurt’ with Matthew Dear) and remixes of various other artists work including Nicholas Jarr’s “The Student”, which takes the listener through an indulgent seven and a half minutes progressively away from the brilliant and slow “Aphrika” that was Troxlers’ A side to Jarr’s song.

Krysko

Krysko, when searched into YouTube, always gives unusual Russian recommendations. I got halfway through some vampire nun nonsense before realising that it was very much not what I wanted to listen to. I ventured further to find this pearl from the man himself “To truly establish yourself as a respected resident you need to build deep knowledge of these 3 elements; the music you play, the pioneers of this music and the people who you play to week-in, week-out.” Coming from an artist that introduces himself as a regionally famous DJ, that’s quite good stuff.  Krysko is a resident at The Warehouse Project, previously at Sankeys as well as the Redlight and Tribal seasons. His knack for being everywhere at once does Krysko a service and his reputation for putting on a solid performance stand him in good stead. This needs more views.

Dollop

Dollop has dried in the winter air like wet paint and their influential drops linger heavy on the scene since they grew out of Nottingham back in ‘09, moving slow and steady towards London Town. Their long awaited NYE party at London’s own Troxy highlighted the talent Dollop have to offer with their outreached fingertips; Ben UFO, Loefah and Oneman to name three. Dollop sold out at NYE, and at their most recent gig, and at the showcase event they held with the huge names on the house scene Bicep and Objekt. Their residents are grizzled and fresh in equal measure, and the muscle the boys at Dollop can muster when lifting heavy is a testament to their established dominance.
