I absolutely adore the JP Raptors, but I feel like I’m one of the few that actually understands what they are.
People are griping so hard about how the dinos in Jurassic World don’t have feathers, that the raptors are virtually the same as they were in the last three films.
Well, yeah, they’re supposed to be, they aren’t real Velociraptors and never have been. They are facsimiles of them, genetically manipulated and produced to be theme park attractions. The books and the movies state as much. They were blended from the DNA from dinos, frogs and who knows what else, so of course they aren’t going to be “real”. They’re theme park “monsters”.
The Velociraptors of Jurassic Park won’t have feathers and honestly I don’t think they should. This goes for every dino in the park, they are “Jurassic Park Dinosaurs”, trademarked and copyrighted as attractions.
So yeah, I’m gonna keep adoring their featherless, huge and intimidating selves no matter how “unscientific” they may be, thank you very much <3
I’m very excited to announce my very first solo show, at Gallery 1988: LA on January 9th. Almost a year’s worth of work, and my most challenging project to date. I can’t wait to share it with you, and if you’re in the area, please stop by. I’ll post some previews before the show. See you there!
