Miami Democrat Rep. Joe Garcia: Communism Works (Seriously!)

/p>

As the Miami Herald reported last night, we caught Miami Democrat Joe Garcia in what is actually his most embarrassing situation yet (not the ear wax thing).

“When you attract people, you are the dominant culture that people want to emulate and copy what you’re doing because it works. And in America, we are doing a huge disservice to ourselves by not understanding how powerful of a driver in the economy an immigration system that works can be — and continues to be — and by not having an immigration system that works. Let me give you an example, the kind of money we’ve poured in: So the most dangerous—sorry, the safest city in America is El Paso, Texas. It happens to be across the border from the most dangerous city in the Americas, which is Juarez. Right? And two of the safest cities in America, two of them are on the border with Mexico. And of course, the reason is we’ve proved that Communism works. If you give everybody a good, government job, there’s no crime. But that isn’t what we should be doing on the border. The kind of money we’ve poured into it, and we’re having diminishing returns. So while we’re doing—we’re spending all of this money here, we have border problems in Puerto Rico. We haven’t been able to set up a system that’s safe there. People are finding alternative routes. The opportunity to get this right and the mistake that Republicans make — and I say Republicans because it’s Republicans right now — I’m known to say that Democrats were also possessed by Xenophobia in 2008 and particularly after 9/11 and the economic crisis, but today we’re in a much better place as a party. And the problem that Republicans have is that they’re fighting a battle they cannot win.”

Gameathon 2011: Joe vs. Ryan - A Temporary Acceptance

Unfortunately, I was informed that Ryan is out of town for the next two weeks.  Regardless, I’m accepting the challenge on his behalf, because I know it is what he’d want to do.  When he arrives back home, I’ll be sure to have him post an article of acceptance to make it really official.  For now, this is as official as it’s getting!

Let the Gameathon 2011… BEGIN!

Sincerely,

Ryan’s Big Brother, Joe

Get Your Joe Garcia Super PAC B-Roll Footage Here

Earlier today/Yesterday, The Miami Herald reported that a Democrat Super PAC had to change it’s pro-Joe Garcia ad after they used some B-Roll footage from Joe Garcia’s campaign website:

“The background footage used in an ad by an outside group was shot several years ago,” Garcia’s campaign said in a statement. “Representative Garcia continues to remain committed to serving the people of the district. This week is small business week; Representative Garcia released bipartisan legislation to grow small businesses in South Florida and is meeting with business owners in the district.”

The footage had been available, until recently, on Garcia’s own campaign website, which is how many outside groups that can’t legally coordinate with campaigns get their B-roll for ads.

Candace Bryan Abbey, a spokeswoman for Patriot Majority, has changed the Garcia ad, which begins airing on television Wednesday.

Why did they need to take it down? Well:

But the ad for Garcia has gotten noticed not because of its message — but because it features a shot of Garcia with Steve Bateman, the former Homestead mayor facing criminal charges. Bateman has pleaded not guilty.

After the issue with the ad was highlighted, Garcia’s campaign removed the B-Roll footage from their website. How horrible for all of those pro-Garcia Super PACs. Well, good news! We downloaded it for you. Without further ado, here is the footage (Jump to minute 0:43 to enjoy a full minute and 11 seconds of Garcia with his criminal ally):

Can't You Just Feel The Enthusiasm Among These House Democrats

The Washington Post reported this morning that about 100 House Democrats will be skipping an annual three-day meeting where they’ll be discussing strategy for the upcoming midterm election. Among those who will be absent are vulnerable Reps. Patrick Murphy (D-FL) and Joe Garcia (D-FL), as well as Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH) and Rep. Pete Gallego (D-TX).

Not only are they running from Pelosi and House Democrat leadership, but they’ll also skipping out on a private meeting with President Obama, as the article notes:

The no-shows will miss President Obama, who is planning to visit the Hyatt resort here for his third face-to-face encounters with House Democrats in three weeks.

If one thing is clear, it’s that these endangered Democrats would rather be anywhere else than at a secluded resort with Pelosi and Obama.

Joe Garcia Finds Out It's Not So Easy Signing Up For ObamaCare

On his website, Rep. Joe Garcia (D-FL) touts his work to ensure ObamaCare is “implemented in a smart and effective way”:

“Congressman Garcia is also committed to ensuring that … the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act … is implemented in a smart and effective way. … Congressman Garcia is committed to working with his colleagues on a bipartisan basis to make sure that the law’s implementation best serves the American people and that all Americans have access to high-quality, affordable health care.”

Yesterday however, Politico reported that lawmakers, including Garcia, who are racing to signup for ObamaCare before today’s deadline are being met with website glitches and sticker shock, much like their constituents back home:

In short, the Obamacare experience is the same mixed bag on Capitol Hill as it is across the nation. “It’s been less than perfect. It’s taken a while,” said Rep. Joe Garcia (D-Fla.). “It takes a long time, dropped off, get asked to call back.”

Thanks for the hard work, Congressman.

Miami Herald: Joe Garcia Aide To Admit Ballot Fraud

This morning, the Miami Herald reported that Congressman Joe Garcia’s (D-FL) former chief of staff will be admitting to absentee ballot fraud. This is the same aide that may have “secretly funded a bogus tea party candidate” in 2010 and the same aide that Joe Garcia’s campaign just reported paying $25,000.

Congressman Joe Garcia’s former chief of staff will head to jail for orchestrating a fraudulent, online absentee-ballot request plot during last year’s elections.

Jeffrey Garcia, the Miami Democratic congressman’s longtime political strategist, will spend 90 days in jail as part of a plea deal reached with the Miami-Dade state attorney’s office, the Miami Herald has learned.

The deal, which is expected to be inked Monday, will require Garcia, 41, no relation to the congressman, to plead guilty to requesting absentee ballots on behalf of voters, which is a felony.

Rep. Joe Garcia (D-FL) Goes Extreme On House Floor

Yesterday, during a speech on the U.S. House Floor, Rep. Joe Garcia went extreme and compared Republicans to an enemy fighting American soldiers in Afghanistan today when he said there was a “Taliban that is at America’s core” in reference to his Republican colleagues. When it comes to spending in Washington, Joe Garcia seems more interested in extreme soundbites than solutions.

JOE GARCIA: “The time has come to put these guys aside, come to a deal. We can fix a lot of these problems. We’ve cut government spending. We can do more of it. We can make government more efficient. We can fix the sequester and give agencies more flexibility. We agree with all of that on this side. We just need our colleagues to step up and push aside these extremist elements, this Taliban that is at America’s core for some reason.”
