I recently made up and photographed Eleanor Collins, the first woman of colour in North America to have had a national tv show. She was amazing - she sang a few songs while we shot and told me stories about racism in 1950s Vancouver. It was a huge honour. Also she’s 94 and has better skin than I did at 22.
So I had the honour of photographing Miss Eleanor Collins again, who was just awarded the Order of Canada for her work breaking down racial barriers in the 1950s through her tv show - the first hosted by a Black North American.
For makeup, we did Hourglass lipstick in Icon, the Balm blush in Hot Mama, Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Ash, and Sugarpill’s bulletproof eyeshadow packed over Kevyn Aucoin black eyeliner.
