Istanbul, Turkey: Militants of the Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) have taken hostage Mehmet Selim Kiraz, the prosecutor who is handling the case of the killing of Berkin Elvan, March 31, 2015.
Elvan, 15 years old, died on March 11, 2014, after a coma of 269 days. He was shot in the head on June 30, 2013 by a tear gas grenade fired by police, while he was going to buy bread.
The communist militants demand that the police officers who killed Berkin Elvan confess their crime during a live TV broadcast and for the prosecution of these officers in a “people’s court.” They also demanded that charges be dropped against those who participated in protests in solidarity with Berkin Elvan.
According to a statement released on halkinsesi.tv, the militants have set up a deadline for meeting their demands at 3.36 pm local time.

by two armed DHKP-C (revolutionary peoples liberation front - party) activists at a courthouse.
They demand a people’s court for the police officer who shot Berkin Elvan. He also has to confess on TV. If not, they gonna shoot Selim Kiraz.
In other news, the twitter accounts of DHKP-C social media activists have been suspended and the people who staged the sit-in protest out the front of the court house have been detained by the security forces.
