THE KALESA. This is a horse carriage locally called “kalesa” taken along the dark streets of Instramurus. This type of transport goes a long way back during the Spanish occupation in the Philippines hundreds of years ago. Now catering mostly for tourists, it is mostly used for sight seeing and educational tours in the walled city. Other sites where “kalesas” can be found are in Cebu, Vigan, Binondo.
