September 2012 Update

We often talk to the inmates about living today as if there were no tomorrow, because that just might be the case. I am not sure if anywhere in the Bible we are promised there will be a tomorrow, making today a great day, possibly our last day, to live for the Lord. The Friends of Israel have stated there are 10,365 minor and major prophecies in the Bible, 9,600 of which have already come true. Is having life on this earth tomorrow in any of those prophecies (predictions)? I personally don’t think so. 1 John 5:13 tells us: I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. Yes, God does promise those who have made Jesus Lord and Master of their lives to possess eternal life with Him in Heaven, but tomorrow here on earth? Not sure about that one. In Matthew 6: 11, in what we call the Lord’s prayer, God tells us, “Give us today our daily bread.” Not tomorrow’s bread, but today’s bread. Could He possibly be warning us that there just might not be a tomorrow? If there is not the possibility that tomorrow will come, doesn’t that make today a great day for anyone, not just inmates, to make Jesus their Lord and Savior? Once we are standing before Jesus it will be too late to say, “Oh, Jesus, I believe in you now!” We tell the inmates, “Do today what you will wish you had done five seconds after you stand before Jesus as your judge. That is, wishing you had made Him Lord and Savior of your life.”
