Oh, and I saw The Amazing Spider Man yesterday as well.
It wasn’t ‘amazing’ as the title would suggest, but in my opinion it was definitely an improvement on the Raimi films (I hated all of them) and shows massive promise for an even better sequel.
My main problem is that much of the story felt rushed. Peter Parker’s storyline progressed well up until the moment when he actually puts on the Spider Man costume, at which point everything happens very quickly. Similarly his relationship with Gwen, whilst well paced at first, seemed to go up to 11 too fast for me to even take it all in.
It’s well acted by the whole cast, Andrew Garfield is especially believable as a teenage Peter Parker, but Rhys Ifans was the best thing about it. He’s such an under rated actor and needs more roles. Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben was also a very touching, almost heartbreaking portrayal.
