Dean’s so kind, so interested in the baby and Castiel, that sometimes Castiel daydreams Dean is the father of his child and not his deadbeat boyfriend. It’s getting closer to Christmas and Castiel’s cottage is freezing cold. Dean brings over logs for the fire, extra blankets from the farm house and offers Castiel a bed back at the farm house if Castiel wants it. Castiel is so scared of getting his heart broken again that he already turns Dean down. It would be too easy to fall for him (part two)
Castiel regrets that when he goes into labor on Christmas Eve. He wishes he was in the farm house, with people around him. He struggles across the farm to reach Dean’s door, desperate for Dean to drive him into town to the doctor. As it turns out, the local doctor Adam is Dean’s younger half-brother and he’s at the farm house for Christmas. He rushes Cas upstairs, shouting for Dean to get clean towels and boil some hot water. (part three)
Castiel’s baby is born early on Christmas morning. Adam oversees the whole birth with Dean’s assisting. Castiel is pretty exhausted, but he can’t help but smile when he sees Dean holding the baby, wrapped in a ducky towel, whispering that she’s his little Christmas miracle. Adam suggests Cas stay at the farm house over the holidays to recover. The birth wasn’t dangerous and both Cas and the baby are fine, but he’d like to keep an eye on them. (part four)
Dean hardly leaves Castiel’s side during the first few days. He helps feed the baby, sings to her, makes her cloth nappies since all the local stores are closed, and looks after her while Castiel sleeps. Seeing Dean take such good care of his baby, Castiel falls head over heals for him. The farm still needs Dean, so after a few days Dean is back out working, but he comes home as often as he can to check on Castiel and the baby. (part five)
Castiel is still at the farm house on New Year’s Eve. It’s not a surprise to anyone when he and Dean seek each other out to kiss at the end of the countdown to welcome in the New Year. Castiel isn’t scared anymore. He knows Dean will be a good father and that Dean will never leave. And Dean wants nothing more than to move Castiel into his room and start calling himself that little baby’s daddy. (the end!)
