Why is melodrama so bad? Something is a little melodramatic and it’s suddenly bad? Why does everything have to be realist? (If that’s the proper term to use.) It’s just lately, I’ve noticed some dismissing of melodrama?
My only problem is when something is clearly melodramatic and the maker of the work is trying to deny it and say it isn’t. Or when the intention isn’t to be melodramatic and it’s melodramatic anyway. Those are different issues. Otherwise, I think it’s perfectly fine to be melodramatic.
