NEW Lancôme Hypnôse 10th Anniversary Collection Eye Products and Limited Edition Metallic Artliners
Hypnôse mascara is 10 this year, and to celebrate, the brand has launched an entire collection around its iconic best-seller, including 3 gorgeous new nude palettes called the “shade extensions”, 2 eye primers, and 4 brow color/highlighter duos.
Because we’re seeing so much interest in bright lip looks this year, the key eye look recommended by Lancôme for the season is subtle neutral lids, defined brows, and lush lashes, with a stroke of strong liner as an accent. All the better to complement any lip color you choose to wear!
I put up a picture of the 3 eye palettes on Instagram the other night and asked which one everyone was interested in the most. Because DR6 Gris Au Naturel got the biggest response, I whipped it out for a quick look and paired it with my favorite metallic Artliner 24H shade 011 Silver/Argent. (This shade is not really just silver. It’s a taupe-y grey with mauve and pink flecks thrown in for dimension. You have to swatch it yourself to see!)
As you can see, I applied the liner quite thick but it doesn’t look over the top at all. It just looks like a silvery-taupe shadow, until you look down or close your eyes, and the metallic texture catches the light.
The Limited Edition colored Artliners (S$44) are available exclusively at Sephora in Singapore for this season only.
La Base Paupieres Pro (eyeshadow bases available in 2 shades) and Le Sourcils Pro (brow duos available in 4 shades) will only be available at Departmental Stores in Singapore and are priced at $33 each.
Hypnose Palette shade extensions (S$90) will be available at all Lancôme counters.
P.S. Just a word on the Lip Lover hybrid lip-serums/lacquers (S$40). They’re already out in the West - lucky you - but will be available in Singapore from 1 May. The sweet-pink shade I have on above is 316 Rose Attrape-cœur, which I just learnt is one of the star shades for the season. (Good pick, ay?)
Simple and Polished: Basic Everyday Neutral Eyes and Warm Bright-pink Lips
Just because you have a quad or palette with 4, 5, 6, shades doesn’t mean you need to think of how to incorporate every color every time. It can be extremely overwhelming. For daily wear, 2-3 shadow shades is plenty.
Here’s a very simple look that I very often wear when I want to look polished but don’t want to spend too much time. You can recreate it whether you own the same eyeshadow palette I used (Lancôme Hypnôse Star Palette in Brun Adoré), or a neutral eye palette that you already own.
@soccerblonde: Yes you can recreate the look with Maybelline Color Tattoos. Barely Branded is paler than this shade but if it’s a match for your skin tone it will give a similar effect. (The point is finding a main lid shade that sort of fits with your natural skin color but has a sheen and sparkle.) I’d recommend using a soft brush to buff the color in for a lighter finish, instead of using a flat brush or your fingers.
Lancome’s New Hypnose Doll Eyes Waterproof Mascara
(Quick post on how it works and who should buy it!)
Hypnose Doll Eyes is a bestseller for the brand for a variety of reasons.
The brand has long been known for its outstanding mascaras, ever since the famed Eternicils was launched years back.
Most women who wear mascara want to achieve a full, long, fluttery doll-eyed lash effect with as little effort as possible.
This month, the company launched updated versions of its Hypnose range, and I’m going to do a quick full-day test-try to let you know how it works, and who it would work best for.
Because the limited edition heart-shaped white Alber Elbaz packaging is super-cute, but if the juice inside isn’t worth your time, then it sure ain’t worth your money no matter how cute the tube is.
Version tested: Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Waterproof (2013 updated formula)
Formula: Medium-dry. I find this similar to Diorshow and L’oreal Voluminous. That means it will get the formula on your lashes relatively fast, but you don’t have a whole lot of time to slowly work with it and build it up. Waterproof mascaras do tend to be slightly drier than their regular counterparts.
Feel/Finish: Quite stiff. The good thing is a stiff mascara is going to hold curl a lot better and a lot longer. The bad thing is some people don’t like a stiff mascara and want their lashes to still be quite soft and flexible after mascara is on.
August Beauty Favorites
I’m hardly monogamous when it comes to beauty products and while I try tons of stuff (and genuinely enjoy many of them), there are usually a handful that “stick” more than the others for various reasons.
Here are the ones that drew my hand like a magnet this month!
(I’m not including skincare, because I don’t switch my skincare around all that much!)
1. Lancome Hypnôse Star Eyes Palette in Brun Adoré
Hello? Who would this set of pigmented, flattering, satiny browns NOT look good on?
Definitely my pick out of the entire range if you want to choose a neutral palette with a lot of mileage. I always say that I like palettes with a good mix of dark and soft shades, because it has enough darkness and light altogether so you don’t need to use a separate shadow for highlighting and defining.
This goes from soft day looks to smoldering night looks easily, and complements pretty much any lip and outfit color you’re wearing.
Bonus? It has enough sheen to illuminate but it’s not so sparkly or metallic that it will emphasize lines around your eyes.
–2. Bliss Fabulips Lip Softening Balm
They came out with a breath-freshening version, but I still love the original stick balm with that slight candy-like scent. It’s lightweight enough to layer on top of a thicker, more nourishing product, and it feels good on its own as well if you don’t need so much moisture.
