Mi smo zelje, mlada buranija, nemamo pojma s pojmom o zivotu i svemu sto on nosi.

Must read pieces of Bosnian literature (probably part one since there is many more amazing books)

1. Ivo Andrić, Bridge on Drina - A Nobel Prize winner from Travnik wrote amazing historical books usually about Bosnia during Ottoman Empire. The book has its tittle by the bridge of Mehmed pasha Soklović, a young boy who was taken away from Bosnia as dervşirme but later became great vezir of Ottoman Empire.

2. Mak Dizdar, Stone sleeper - The most popular piece of Bosnian poetry. Dizdar is from Stolac and was inspired by Bosnian medieval tombstones Stećci. His poems truly have spirit of old Bosnia in them, so it is highly recommended.

3. Meša Selimović, Derviš i Smrt - Selimović is known by his wonderful sentences and Derviš i Smrt is a book that none can not enjoy. It talks about dervish (member of Sufi school) Ahmed during the Ottoman Bosnia, his power, his fights, his inner problems. And all of that written so amazingly it leaves you speechless.

4. Nedžad Ibrišimović, Vječnik - Ibrišimović is one of the best Bosnian authors of all times. Vječnik is a book of life, death, God, sin and many other things. It is believed to be one of the masterpieces of modern Bosnian literature.

5. Mula Mustafa Bašeskija, Ljetopis - Ljetopis isn’t really a novel, but it is a very important piece of Bosnian literature. Mula Mustafa Bašeskija made a “diary” of events in Sarajevo and Bosnia, but also he collected a lot of traditional songs, dream interpretations, games, folk stories and many other things that were part of Bosnian society in 18th and 19th century.

6. Edhem Mulabdić, Zeleno busenje - Zeleno busenje is not a book that will everyone like, but it is a must because it is believed  to be one of the eldest and first pieces of modern Bosnian literature. It is set on border between Ottoman and Austrian rules in small Bosnian town Maglaj.

7. Hamza Humo, Grozdanin Kikot - Hamza Humo is one of the best and most popular modern Bosnian authors. Grozdanin Kikot is a classic of Bosnian literature and today is a must in all elementary and high schools.

8. Nura Bazdulj, Hubijar, Ljubav je sihirbaz, babo - Bosnia’s favorite love novelist, Nura Bazdulj - Hubijar has whole range of beautiful love books that the most of young Bosnians have read. Specially girls. This book will make you angry, sad, happy and laugh. But it won’t leave you emotionless for sure.

9. Derviš Sušić, Nevakat, Derviš is an amazing author, one of his books got even made into a famous TV show “Tale”. Nevakat is one of his best books which talks about a Bosnian man who after spending his life in Western countries and battlefields decides to come back to Bosnia so he can use his knowledge in it. But he is surprised when he comes back and sees a destroyed country…

10. Indira Kučuk - Sorguč, Ja Mahaluša - This book might not the be quality of Nedžad’s or Meša’s books, but will make it in the history as the first Bosnian chic-lit. Chick-lit in which Bosnian women can relate to more than usual Western that are the bestsellers.
