U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Ryan P. Wells, a crew chief with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 462 (HMH-462), provides aerial security from inside a CH-53E Super Stallion over Helmand province, Afghanistan. HMH-462 conducted an external mission as part of demilitarization.

Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 462 provided aerial support to the Marines and Afghan forces during an interdiction operation. The Marines are assigned to Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment.
