DeWitt is a fascinating watch manufacturer. This is a very creative way to display analogue time. At the same time, while I appreciate the innovation, jump hour and minute apertures will never be as exciting as seeing new takes on traditional watch hand themes. Personally, I think the best hands in watchmaking come from Breguet. And on that topic, I think Breguet is respected well enough as a fine watch manufacturer, but their overall contribution to the watch world tends to go unnoticed. Yes, Breguet is responsible for the invention of the tourbillon, but do you know who uses Breguet watch parts to this day? Rolex, Patek Philippe, and many others. Breguet still makes one of the worlds best hairsprings, for example. I am completely settled on exactly which Rolex, Panerai, and Patek to own, but the trouble with Breguet is that there are so many wonderful designs to choose from that I can’t even begin to make up my mind. And for anyone out there who is a Swatch hater, I happen to love Swatch, and no, Swatch has not ruined Breguet. Breguet is just as good as they have always been, if not better considering what they released this year.
