Oze is a national park located in four prefectures: Gunma, Niigata, Tochigi and Fukushima. It is the largest wetland in Honshu.
There are several hiking courses, camping sites, and Yamagoya (mountain houses, or cottages used for rest stop as well as overnight stay). Oze is famous of varieties of flowers and vegetation. Depending on when you go, you will always find different kinds of flowers blooming.
Oze hiking courses are open from mid-May to mid-October. Since it is located in higher elevation, bringing warmer jacket and wearing long sleeve shirt/pants are recommended as it can be cool. Reservation of cottage should be considered long in advance as it can be filled up quickly. It is possible to do a day-hike, if hike is started early in the day. Price to stay in one of the cottages vary (depending on season and whether you need meal(s) or not), but it ranges between 4,600 yen to 9,000 yen per person. Some cottages provide private room (Ryokan style) and others provide shared room with beds.
